Didn't realize this place was being eaten up by condos like everything else in the city. Not like the motel had much going on anyway, but still a piece of old Austin being replaced.

The St. Elmo was a roach motel the first time I saw it in 1959. The same went for the San Jose & the Austin Motel.

Too bad the M&M Courts on what used to be South Congress never got any nostalgia love from the local establishment when it was razed decades ago. Half of Austin got laid there when Mz. Hattie ran the joint.
