Just happened to be watching the end of the Charlotte Bobcats game and they interviewed Lasalle who is an assistant coach. One of my all time favorites and wearing a burnt orange shirt.
I'll never forget one encounter I had with LaSalle in the communications building. I got into the elevator and he was already in there. It seemed like I was eye level with his belt buckle. I looked up at him and said, "Hi." He looked down at me and said, "Low."
I lived in Jester (West) freshman year and remember seeing LaSalle hang in the lobby on more than one occassion looking to bait someone into a pick-up game. A 6'10" guy doesn't blend in to the anonymous student body very well.
I was playing some pickup hoops in Gregory and Thompson sits down on the baseline like he's waiting to get into the next game. I'm 6'0" and think "I'm not sure I want to win this game. I sure the hell don't want to cover him in the next one."
Still sucks how Wacker got hurt and we tanked the rest of the season.
Yeah, I remember when Akeem came in talking smack in 81 or so, and LaSalle destroyed him. Of course, I was was a Rocket's fan, so when they drafted Akeem, I became huge fan
OT: Is LaSalle the horn that played the longest in the NBA? I can't think of one that played longer.
