Las Vegas Hotels/Shows

The wife and I are taking our first vacation ever (two young kids). We've decided on Las Vegas. I've come to realize there are about a million options, the most important one seems to be the hotel selected.

Any good hotel and/or show advice would be appreciated.

Don't be surprised if this gets moved over to "on the road"...

Depends on how much you wanna spend... I've stayed @ NY NY, MGM, Paris, and they are all great... not a great difference between hotels, except maybe in price... Next time we want to stay at the Wynn, which is a lot more expensive... but for what I saw, worth it...

For shows, I recommend Avenue Q... unless you're offended by silly songs about Porn, Gayness, and Racism...

Make sure you DO NOT plan it for sometime in the summer... Vegas gets to 120 degrees, and you'll die even when walking between hotels...

All the Cirque du Soleil shows are fun. I've seen Ka, O, and Mystere and they were all awesome in my opinion.

Oh, yeah... forgot to mention ALWAYS be sure to bring new, but well broken in sneakers. There is a SHITLOAD of walking & wife # 1 only brought Keds.

We should have gone somewhere & bought her some sneaks considering how rough it was on her. Cabs just didn't seem to be all that practical in Vegas... lots of free sidewalk shows (Mirage with the volcano & lights, etc) & lots of walking between all of them.

She was in rough health to begin with, & this certainly didn't help things much (having to do so much walking). We were there in mid July (not my idea).

But hey... ! It's a 'dry heat'.
