I remember during my years at UT "Dallas" was the biggest television show going not only in the US, but worldwide.

The show had many ties to the University of Texas as J.R.'s wife Sue Ellen on the show attended UT. They shot scenes
for the show at UT. Then the biggest cliff hanger of all time
was "who shot J.R.?" The answer of course was his sister
in law Kristin Shepard played by UT student Mary Crosby.

I remember Mary as a resident of SRD and seeing her walking
around campus with her mother who also attended UT and her father the famous crooner Bing Crosby.

Hagman turned J.R Ewing into a Texas icon and his character
made Dallas into another reason the state of Texas is so well
known around the world.

For me it was "I dream of Jeannie" as Major Nelson. That was some classic television when I was a kid.

Larry Hagman in real life was exactly the opposite of J.R. Ewing. He was kind, thoughtful, generous, and very gracious. May he rest in peace.
