im on the verge of a ************* homicide here. my laptop doesnt play sound when i try to play DVDs. i see the video just fine, but no ******* sound. i have sound for everything else, i play CDs, sounds on the net, all that jazz, but nothing when i play my DVD.

on the, uh, "troubleshooting" (and i use that term loosely) page, it says i may need a decoder (but it doesn't clarify what that, um, is). that's it. i need a fuckin decoder???

i think it's ********. anyone know what the problem is, and how to resolve it?????????????????

what the **** is a decoder, and why wasnt it already installed on my ******* computer?

Has it ever played sound with DVDs? A decoder is either a software or hardware solution that takes an element of the DVD (sound or video) and makes it usable.
