I was just thinking of this show the other day while watching Nicolodeon with my kids. Does anybody remember the graphics? It's amazing how far they've come since then.

I mean those graphics really, really sucked....But not as a bad as OU.

My sister & I watched Land of the Lost & probably everything else Sid & Marty Kroft ever cranked out. As per wikipedia, the first run of LOTL was '74-'76. We didn't know what drugs were then, but figured, whatever they were, the Krofts were on them. As I recall, we weren't too clear either on what special effects were supposed to be, but the Krofts' were craptacular.

Basically, we were happy with pretty much anything we could get a clear picture of via the rabbit ears.

Chaka, Will, Holly, the Sleestaks? Oh yeah. Loved it.

You probably watched it in the 80s, like I did, but it actually ran from 1974-1977, which explains the really crappy "special effects."

IMDB

Also, a remake with Will Ferrell appears to be in the works.

Also, from IMDB, there's this fun fact....

That trip over the waterfall looked pretty damn real to me. And the sleestacks... man those were some bad dudes you didn't want to mess with.

mid 70's dude - we barely had color tv...

I swear I read this as "Land of the Lost Mid-80's " TV Show. I was wondering what the Lost Mid-80's were.

I can admit that I added this to my Netflix queue one day a couple of years back, and actually sat thru 1 episode. good for nostalgia sake, but a really really bad TV show. Apparently, I had no taste as a kid.

It was not just Sigmund and the Seamonsters. There was also H.R. Pufnstuf and The Bugaloos. They were in the air and everywhere.

Sid and Marty Kroft took bigtime psychotropics, no doubt. I named my first Rottweiler after Sigmund.

The Sleestack were too slow for me to be afraid of them. I knew I could out run them or kick them in their Sleenuts. But Alice, the Tyranosaur, **** that. I was afraid of her.

The brothers of Chaka, the other Pacuni, were thugs. Teenage thugs out to mess **** up. All they were missing were Goody combs in their back pockets and the look was complete.

The ineptitude of Marshal, Will and Holly to manipulate the magic crystals to escape was frustrating even to a me as a kid. C'mon you dimwits, FIGURE IT OUT.

I would assume that this show gets approval and heavy play by the Creationists. It is documented proof man lived with Dinosaur.

I used to love that show as a kid back in the day. Made sweeter by the fact that one of my profs in R-T-F , Mr. Foshko wrote the original pilot for it.

Had a catchy soundtrack too.

I know I watched Land of the Lost in the late 80s or early 90s as a kid, but I don't remember much about it. I remember a talking ape/chimp named Stink who was about as intelligent and grammatically accurate as Jar Jar Binks, that's about all.

What about Wonder Bug? Or Electra Woman and Dyna Girl? Ooh, I did some crazy things in my Underdog PJs when Dyna Girl came onscreen.

Yep. I remember it well. I also remember some of the other Craft stuff.

I think I had a crush on one of the bugaloos - Jody was her name.

There was also a rip-off of Lost in Space with - I think - the dorky sheriff from Best Little Whorehouse in Texas.

One of the Dyna or Electra girl shows starred Dr. Marlana Evans from Days of Our Lives.

To this day, that flute from HR Puffinstuff freaks me out.

I watched it on Satudays in the 70's. I was able to recreate that stream and raft many times in my backyard in a matter of minutes...

Wasn't Shazam! in production then also? Mentor, Billy and Boy's Town on wheels...God what crap we used to have to watch back then with only four channels.

Shazam!

H.R. Pufnstuf was filled with allusions to marijuana. C'mom..."Puffin' Stuff"?! H.R. is a common abbreviation for "handrolled." Thus, "handrolled puffin' stuff" would be...you got it, marijuana. It sure makes the theme song make a lot more sense:

H.R. Pufnstuf, who's your friend when things get rough?
H.R. Pufnstuf, can't do a little, 'cause you can't do enough!

Great stuff!
