He returned to the door, full of sound and fury, and played the ubiquitous celebrity ‘do you know who I am?’ card. Higgins, who has worked at the Backstage Bar for four-and-a-half years, made it quite clear that he had no interest in Armstrong’s celebrity or defense of his actions. Armstrong, not willing to drop the issue, flailingly tried to retake whatever sense of pride he apparently felt was taken from him, by berating Higgins while his friends stood at his side. With a finger that came inches from Higgins’ face, Armstrong, according to Higgins, let loose a series of threats that concluded with the time-worn celebrity threat of “You’ll never work at this bar again.”

Surely, someone would have thought to yell out "Roid Rage"

I love the guy, but I'd have yelled it.
 
I've heard that Lance can be a a jerk but I've had too many bad experiences with door-men to judge him without knowing more.
 
I did not see Lance, but I would like to echo the writer's initial sentiment. Awesome show, great tunes.
 
I've heard lance is a dick, but so are most bouncers. I would understand if the bouncer ripped the drink out of his hand. That's happened to me before and i was not enthused
 
as I was walking out from the show last night, I had a cup of ice water in my hand, and the bouncer basically grabbed it out of my hand (though I was fine with it).

I didn't yell at him though. Because I know that you generally cannot take drinks out of a bar, especially those with alcohol in them. I don't think this was Lance's first time at a bar...
 
When it happened to me, i was still inside the bar. It had just turned 2 oclock and a bouncer ripped my beer out of my hand as i was taking a sip, spilling beer all over me. No warning, no nothing. I wasn't drunk and there were still 50 people inside the bar. I yelled at him. A lot.

Go back to that place where bitter people with very large chips on their shoulder reside.
 
I don't think Lance has helped himself with his reputation, but the bouncers at La Zona Rosa have been exceptional at being major dicks for quite some time.
 
There's an update. Lance said the bouncer was being a dick, but he also apologized for his reaction. Nothing too unusual, but it would have been cool to be there.
 
I know for a fact Lance can be quite the ******* and is known for it. I also know for a fact doormen often carry chips on their shoulders and thrive on being ********. A very good situation for a problem. I can totally see Lance doing this and am shocked if he said he was sorry unless this story was going to get major national pub.

The guy is a fantastic athlete and to date there is no proof he did anything illegal. Could he have, sure. But until proven, it is very lame for people to counter otherwise. Unlike swinging a bat or tackling somebody, the amount of skill, hard work and literally blood and guts (vomit) you don't win much less train for pro cycling or win. Even if he did roids or something, he is a phenomenal athlete and for that I respect the ever loving hell out if him and his accomplishments.

This one man was the single focus of every single cyclist and team in the world. Teams were built to bring him down and they failed time and time again. Amazing. I don't like the man as a person but so what. I respect him as an athlete and for sure as a person whose passion, abilities and drive helps thousands of people live, have hope and fight to live. Hats off to his efforts to help along the discovery to the cure for Cancer. Nothing he does can erase the good he does as well.

Show some respect for a man who has influenced and made planet Earth a better place more than maybe any of us have. He does not have to do what he does. (not be an ***, but the cancer stuff)
 
since when do sports legends (which he is like him or not) get lumped into the 15-min fame crowd?

When they are jerks like Lance, that's when.

People here overlook his misdeeds because he's from the area.

The dude is definitely not a "15 minuter"...that's ******* retarded.

If Lance is a 15 minute dude so are Ali, Jordan, Tiger and Federer. Armstrong is/was every bit as dominant in his sport as they were/are in theirs. Oh and as far as I know none of those guys above took on cancer, kicked its *** and THEN went on to greatness. Damn there are some small minded people on this planet.

Look elite athletes can and usually will be dicks. It takes a great deal of confidence and ego to reach that level...sometimes they lose their tempers...just like every other human on the planet. In addition, they're constantly being watched while in public by someone and therefor have zero room for **** ups.

Bouncers are notorious roid-raged dickheads. I'd be willing to bet there's a lot better chance of this gorilla bouncer being juiced up than Armstrong.ever taking it.

Live strong, Lance and **** the haters.
 
not to mention, bouncer would most likely take action against a celebrity just because they are a celebrity.

Lance is an a-hole. Look at what he did to Dead Man's Hole, a swimming spot that he shares with neighbors: he clouded it up with construction and then balked at cleaning it for 2 years. Very neighborly.
 
Lance just called into the Dudley and Bob show and handled it very well.

He explained that the situation could have been handled better on both sides and that he loves his hometown of Austin and does not want to get that kind of reputation.

Good for him to diffuse the issue and show he is a normal person.

Pretty vicious stuff on here though, wow.
 
Lance is, and always will be, a hero and a legend in my book. Glad to see he's taken the high road, owned up to his error, and is trying to put this behind him.
