Lambert's BBQ on 2nd Street

I went there for lunch last week. My wife and I sampled four of the "barbecue" meats. They were tasty, but if you are looking for authentic, pit smoke BBQ, this isn't the place. If you're looking for a nice restaurant with tasty food that references traditional barbecue you'll probably enjoy it.

If you've ever wanted to have a Pellegrino with smoked meat, then go immediately to Belmont.

The brisket was moist and tasty, but not heavily smoked with a barely discernable smoke ring.

The ribs had been glazed with maple syrup and was pretty good.

The sausage was excellent, very lean and more crumbly than smooth.

The pulled pork was very wet with sauce. The consistency led me to believe that it was braised more than smoked.

The sides were great and we had an appetizer of deviled eggs with caviar on top that was excellent.

They've also got an upstairs music venue but didn't check it out.

I'd go back but expect good food, but not authentic Texas BBQ.

A buddy of mine's brother is one of the co-owners. They have put a lot of work into that place. Plus, it's a great location and historic building. They've done a good job with it. Looking forward to eating there. Had drinks upstairs, which was nice. Cute waitresses.

I've been a few times and really enjoy the brisket. It doesn't overwhelm with flavor but is tender and juicy. Pulled pork was a little dry but I'll try it again.

Love the building and location and that it's local. Wish we had more BBQ downtown, Iron Works and Pok-E-Jos are a bit far to walk.

Beer's a bit pricey but I can handle it. A jazz pianist friend plays there but haven't made it for that yet.

Glad to see another place with macaroni and cheese downtown to join with those at Roaring Fork, Moonshine, and Bess.
