Lakers v Celtics

Well this is what the networks and David Stern wanted so who you got.

Although I think the Lakers are playing the best right now, Boston has the home court. My brain says Lakers but my heart says Celtics.

So, I am going Celtics in 7.

First time in the playoffs Kobe will have to actually exert some energy playing a little defense, wonder if that will slow him down a bit on the offensive end.

I say Boston in 7 only because they have home court.

Wow is this thread just to tell us that we get to see Boston vs. LA b/c Stern and the networks wanted that series. Basically otherwise who knows which teams might be playing in the Finals this year.

I suggest rewatching the playoffs thus far. Boston has earned every series win they have had. LA has earned every series win they have had. Boston was #1 in the East and LA was #1 in the West during the regular season. They have beaten the best in the postseason. Neither have had an easy road. 3 series of 7 games series. We DO in fact know who the best teams were this year and who the best teams in the postseason are. Only question is which team out of those 2 is better.

If you want the thread to be about that then reedit. If so, I will say that LA has the upper hand. I do not think Boston defense will shutdown Kobe and LA and LA will just outscore Boston....especially if Allen goes back to shooting bricks.

I hate the Lakers, so with little fervor I pick the Celtics. I'm just thankful it wasn't the Pistons from the east, or I wouldn't want anyone to win.

One team has only lost three playoff games so far. The other team lost three playoff games to the 37-44 Hawks.

I'm going to have to go with the Lakers.

There is little doubt that this was fixed. The fix was in in the NBA this year, just as Stern's minion Bettman got the Wings v. Pens in the NHL, just like he wanted.

It is a sad bunch of horse manure, but true.

I don't even watch the NBA anymore. It is hardly related to the game of basketball and is run by a Jewish version of Hugo Chavez. He runs the league by whatever rules he deems fit and fines any player, or owner who would dare to criticise him. I find him to be a vile man.

This league has approved lopsided trades to get LA and Boston where they are as well. Pau Gasol, All Star for who? Who did LA give up to get him? Scrubs....

It is a pathetic little joke, and I can tell you the NBA makes nary a dime from me. I would compare the NBA to the corruption in the Mexican government, only the Mexicans are at least trying to clean it up.

Uh the Lakers gave up 6 players (including future draft picks) for Gasol. If the Grizzlies were run by someone with half a brain, they could have stopped it whenever they wanted.

Third Coast,
Fact: David Stern is Jewish. That is not a negative comment by me, at least it is not intended to be.

Fact: Stern runs the league in whatever way he deems. Like single handedly changing the composition of the ball without even consulting players; fining players and owners (Actually Stu Jackson is said to deliberate with Stern on that matter). He runs the league like a one man fascist.
What I will do is go back and edit my post to compare him to Hugo Chavez, as I can see how my original statements are more inflammatory than I meant.

let's get back on track.
Lakers are nasty. Boston is good, but they play no trasition D and that is where LA will take them to town.
Lakers in 5, maybe 6.

I took "So who you got" as a question "So who you got?" meaning "who do you think is going to win Celtics or Lakers?"

Garnett really doesn't like to drive inside and I think Gasol's length gives him trouble away from the basket. Kobe can play good D on Allen, so the one real advantage the Celts have is Pierce and some quickness at point guard. Lakers have too many weapons. Lakers in 6, but I'm pulling for Garnett to get his ring.

Yes Tom,

He was also Jewish when Michael Jordon pushed Byron Russell to the floor to make a shot to 'win' a championship.

The combination of MJ + Stern drove the game of basketball out of the NBA.

I'm not sure what Stern being jewish has anything to do with any of this. If he were methodist, would you be calling him a methodist Adolf Hitler? Why does his religion even matter or is it even worthy of being brought up in the first place? Very offensive post.

But to the original topic.... I think the Lakers win. Gimme Phil Jackson over Doc Rivers any day. The Celtics have skated by against inferior competition until Detroit. The Celts had trouble with the Cavs and Lebron, and Kobe's supporting cast is twice as good. Other than the homecourt advantage, I don't see what the C's have going for them.

I agree with your premise.

The Jewish thing was unnecessary, but, it just seems like the since the Spurs have been eliminated a lot more of the bull **** that the rest of us have been watching for years is now making its way to the message boards.

The officials, flopping, preferential treatment, staring bug eyed at the ref after EVERY foul commit....etc...it has turned many of us off to the NBA.

and random mavs kept fouling wade, but when dallas needs a call on a clear foul against terry, no call. all their free calls were used in the WCF against the spurs, who i guess stern was mad at.
