All these Austin area gurus get all hot about local recruits going to Texas but how many actually pan out?

The Griffins and a few others. The rest are just local heroes with local fan clubs.

This qb looks good but the panting over him seems a trifle excessive to me. He was/is qb for a 4A school that has a 5A size enrollment and barely won a state championship.

Of course I don't live in Austin.

how do you "barely" win a championship? Did Texas "barely" win the 2005 MNC? I always thought qualifying a championship was ridiculous.

I saw Gilbert calmly pick apart Westwood despite having everything but the kitchen sink thrown at him. I think he had something like 14 completions in a row at one point. Kelly looked very good too. I'm not to be confused with any talent scout but they certainly looked good when I saw them.

as I said, he looks good to me. I was commenting on a tendency over time for austin area gurus to bay at the moon over local talent that is very good but not worth near the attention.

I could of course be wrong across the board or I could be wrong that they are overhyping this qb. He may be the best in the state next year.

Any time I see somebody get this much loving attention I think of Cuero's Robert Strait.
