Lake Travis Question

I haven't been on Travis in a looooong time and am curious to if there are very many wakeboarding hitting the water up there. I'll be heading that way with some friends and the floating money pit and wouldn't mind hooking up with some fellow boarders.

Not many wake boarders on Travis because of the traffic/chop/wind. But on Lake Austin there are tons.

I see quite a few.

If traffic/chop/wind are that important, get out there early and avoid the weekends. Wind seems to be the most important factor, but you'll find a few spots where the cliffs block it.

And I wouldn't wake-board on LT for a while if I were you.

2nd the Perd. My favorite boarding spot in Austin by far. We are planning a multiboat excursion for the 21st. Figure that will be enough time for things to settle down.

There are plenty of places to ski and wakeboard on Lake Travis, even down closer to the main basin. Depending on the wind, we usually ski in the Cypress Creek cove, right up against the cliffs, or over in Sandy Creek cove, which is also shielded by high land on the sides.

But, it definitely has to be early in the morning, or close to dusk, if you want to ski on the weekend. Otherwise there are just too many boats stirring up too much chop.
