Wondering if Mansfield will be open, but more important, does anyone have real-world experience with the levels. Haven't been out this year and thinking of heading to Devil's Cove. Any problems?
Check the LCRA website for open ramps and be careful. Lake Travis is pretty low now and can be very tricky. There will be lots of fools out there this weekend!
Lake Travis is currently at 652.62 and the surface temp is 76 degrees.
Mansfield Ramp can operate until the lake reaches 645 feet, so it is still open. However, it is the only public ramp open on the south end of the lake, so, unless you're dropping in tomorrow, be prepared to wait a long time to launch.
If I were you, I'd contact a local Marina and ask if they'd rent you a slip for the weekend for $100 and drop it in tonight or tomorrow. I don't think any of the Marinas are full so they may be interested in making a little extra scratch. Lake Travis marina and West Beach have open slips for sure.
As far as the level while you're out there, just take it slow around the edges and just make a direct line between bouys when you are traveling long distances.
If you go anywhere near Emerald Point/Carlos n Charlies, be very careful around the entrance on the south end. It is less than 5 feet and you have to go much closer to the shore than you used.
Our group is starting at about 10:00 tomorrow morning and will be out Friday through Monday. Have fun out there and be safe
