I don't follow this genre much and I do believe that the first time I have seen her was in the HBO special that is currently airing. I couldn't make it through more that a few numbers.

Clearly talented musically, but way out there. I also don't know much about these productions, but found it funny that amongst a non-stop torrent of expletives, she went to very colorful lengths to disclaim and renounce lip syncing, but it clearly appeared that she was doing just that in this show - at least part of the time.

I also got a kick out of all the transgender rumors floating about.

Having said all this, I'm not sure why I started this thread. Just bored in the off season I guess.

Not a fan, but the good news is that except for when I get a haircut or go to that sushi place I like that always plays top 40 music, I can pretty much completely avoid any and all exposure to her.

Yeah, There's no doubting her talent just watching her play the piano with those long *** fingernails.

She certainly isn't my cup of tea, but she sure is popular - particularly with the very young generation, as my eleven year old niece will attest. I know kids that age don't go to concerts, but I wouldn't want my kids watching that show, because of the language. It seemed like very other word out of her mouth was "F" this, or that.

I recognize her talent and I think she's in a different league than Britney Spears, Jessica Simpson, Christina Aguilera, etc., and whatever else the kids are into these days. She just doesn't do it for me. I'm sure part of it is a generational thing.

"Britney Spears, Jessica Simpson, Christina Aguilera"

Man... you really don't know what kids are into these days.

She's playing on the same strings that Madonna used back in the mid 80s. Not necessarily over-sexifying things, but coming up with new ways to do the same old thing (performing). She's outlandish and people naturally want to see what she does next. More power to her.

That said, she's a subpar lyricist and relies on dance beats. Not exactly the pinnacle of musicianship.

She seems to have taken what Madonna has done one step further and is riding the crest of a huge wave, while making an obscene fortune doing it. Her sub par lyrics with a dance beat are clearly what a lot of people want and is certainly keeping her vault stuffed with money and Grammys.

That outrageous stage persona belies her talent in music, as she supposedly has had classical training on the piano since childhood and did attend the prestigious Tisch School of the Arts at NYU.

Maybe she could have been another Norah Jones, but then maybe she's having more fun doing it this way.

She was pretty damn funny on SNL last night. I was surprised.

As far as being a dude who looks like he had a tick tuck, have you ever been with an actual woman?

I caught some of her videos and thought they were very entertaining. I doubt I'll every buy any of her music, but she's interesting.

Don't know if this is true or not, but I heard she got her Gaga name from someone who said she could hit something like 7 octaves like Freddy Mercury. Radio Gaga.

Oh and I don't care for Gaga, or Norah much. I'd rather bang my head, raise the dead and fight for my right to party! lol

Of all the musicians mentioned on this thread Ravi Shankar is by far the most talented. Followed probably by the Beastie Boys.

Maybe its just her body, but man does she grab my attention whenever she's on TV. I'm glued to the TV every time HBO airs her performance.
