'A substitute teacher no longer has a job with the Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD) after footage of her anti-semitic views surfaced.

In an interview given last Wednesday to Reason TV during an Occupy LA protest, Patricia McAllister identified herself as a teacher with the LAUSD. She then said, "the Zionist Jews who are running these big banks and our federal reserve -- which is not run by the federal government -- they need to be run out of this country."

Ouch, she is pretty harsh in her refusal to recant.
Was the LA school district right?

I say they probably wre just based on her lack of awareness of what she said and her lack of awareness at the opportunity to apologize, which apology has saved amny stupid people before.

So we have this thread, the one about the commie teacher, the one about the Mexican pledge, and a fox front page story yesterday about a band kid that couldn't bring his sax on the bus.

Yet, nothing was said about the teacher that was stabbed in her classroom by a student in Florence, Texas. I wonder why that is?

Damn. When did the word "teacher" become a four letter word?

I have (and still do) work my *** off to be as good of a teacher as I can be. 27 years in, and I still love the classroom and my job - and I am damn good at it - but this constant drumbeat of "commie teacher," "damn lib teacher," "lazy teacher," etc is getting really old. Some of you must have a google alert set up for any news story with the word "teacher" in it.

As for this thread, the woman may have identified herself as a teacher, but she is a substitute. In my district here in CO, you can be a substitute with a high school diploma and $60 for a background check and application fee. Substitutes get paid about $80 a day as self-contracted employees (ie, no benefits) and it's a pretty thankless, crappy job unless you can stay in one school and get to know the kids - so you do get some "colorful" subs every once in a while.

I'd write more, but I've got a stack of 165 tests/essays on the factors affecting projectile motion, so I gotta run.

Y'all have fun bashing teachers though.

Nobody is bashing teachers. Larry T. is a teacher. Calm down.

The substitute's firing is relevant to views held by OWS and other ignoramuses. Good riddance.

I don't see how an apology would have made any difference. Yes, she would probably have gotten her job back, but who really believes that she would have been truly sorry? And even if she was sorry for her remarks, who believes that her views would have changed and that she would no longer be prejudice?

I think part of the woman's problem was that when asked "who do you represent?", she said she was there on her own, she made a point of saying she worked for the LAUSD.

You know I have ALWAYS posted to you on here how much I appreciate the hard most times underpaid and under appreciated work you AB CedarPKF and any other teachers do.

I thought this story was about a school district firing a teacher for stunningly ignorant remarks. Please note this sentence from the link
'In an interview given last Wednesday to Reason TV during an Occupy LA protest, Patricia McAllister identified herself as a teacher with the LAUSD. "

She identitified herself as a teacher so that it how I identified her in the thread title.

If that offended you I am sorry. I did not understand substitute teachers weren't teachers.

The occupy wall street movement is somewhat anti-semitic and those feelings have been growing through europe as well over the last few years. It is another underlying issue not being covered by the media. What is happening now is identical to what happened in the 1930's in europe and the united states. Fascism and communism are rearing their ugly heads again under progressivism and other terms. The people running these campaigns are just being more pc and better about hiding their intentions.

having an entire district of teachers refuse to work an extra hour a day to help a failing district only to learn the teachers were making more than twice as much as the workers in the town paying their salaries and benefits didn't help
Certainly the massive Wisc teacher walk outs at their students expense didn't help
nor does it help when there are reports of teachers getting paid to NOT teach
and not being able to fire bad teachers due to unions adds to it
Just today in the DSMN is an oped on a principal of a pretty awful school who left her job to go see obama when he was in town even though the principal had invited a DMN writer to shadow her for a day AT achool. Yes the prinicpal REally cared about her school didn't she

and it goes on and on. Are teachers the problem? only some are.
Isn't it always easier to blame someone else? The people who place the most blame on teachers are very likely the same ones who can't be bothered to pay attention to their own student.

It is well documented that FED is run by Jews and that Wall Street is dominated by Jews. The unfortunate part is that "Jews" refers to an entire nation of people. Zionists are a political group that is mostly affiliated with Jews, but you do not have to be Jewish to be a Zionist. It is a political movement, not a religious one.

The problem this woman has is that she is unintentionally attacking a whole group of people that have nothing to do with the FED and Wall Street. That said, the FED and Goldman Sachs, and quite a bit of Wall Street is dominated by men who, by ethnicity or religion, are Jewish. All of the major financial players in Obama's cabinet and in New York are primarily Jewish. It is easy to see how people make this error when attacking the banks, because so many bankers are Jewish.

Its the same issue with terrorists and Islam. So many terrorists fly under the banner of Islam, but it is wrong to say that Islam condones terror or that Islam is terror.

We need to do a better job of separating the virus from the host, on both issues.
