Had high hopes for this place, having heard it referenced here before. We had migas, and while they certainly didn't suck, they didn't stand out over other, equally easily accessible places, such as Magnolia or Nueva Onda. Is the dinner menu more memorable?

Ambiance was great. Overall, B.

I'm a little surprised to hear that. Maybe they had an off day or something. I've never had a problem with anything I've ordered there (breakfast or lunch/dinner).

Sorry your experience didn't meet your expectation. I hate it when that happens to me.

Well, it's not like they sucked - I'll certainly go back. But I'd heard such good things, I guess my expectations were a bit high. Again, I need to go back for the dinner menu, but it might be a while, especially since Little Mexico is so good, and just down the street.

My Dad considers himself a Mexican food conniseur (sp?), and loves that place, but personally, I think it's only OK. I don;t really get the appeal, myself.

Nueva Onda migas pwn. They're beautiful; they're young; they're innocent. They're the greatest migas I've ever had, and I've HAD 'EM ALL OVER THE WORLD!

And then Johnny Fontane comes along with his olive oil voice and guinea charm, and they run off.

Yeah, I'd have to agree about the migas at Nueva Onda. Not only are they outstanding, but they're different than your run of the mill migas. A little sloppier than most, and they use a different kind of pepper . . . probably poblano?

I finally discover the place and now I'm most likely moving out of the neighborhood. Lovely.

You will find that many of the places listed here as the "Best Tex Mex" are nothing more but **** holes with average food. They think that because the food is edible and hasn't made them sick that is is great because the building "has character" i.e it is a low over head **** hole, but I feel cool going into the place and declaring it greatness. They are no better or worse really than any others, but never mention Matt's el Rancho, Chuy's or any other place that has had great commercial success or you will be beat down for eating poorly cooked chain food, or microwave food and not ebing cultured enough.

The appeal of the place is that I have never seen them card anyone.
