"Confirmed Dead"

"The survivors begin to question the intentions of their supposed rescuers when four strangers arrive on the island."

Probably going to be what some call a 'filler' episode but we will get flashbacks and learn about the 4 new characters that join the island from the freighter ship.

I imagine once they get these characters introduced next episode should kick it in to high gear. This episode should still be great though

Fantastic episode. I really like the new characters, although Miles could probably scale it back a little bit. Ben is, once again, a conniving little bastard.

And since the writer's strike is over, we may get a full season!

I thought it built up well to a great ending.

More
--I thought we knew Ben's story already. He must have been much more active in the outside world than revealed to date
--That is one bitchy ghost hunter. Jennifer Love Hewitt is lots nicer (unless you start talking about her caboose)
--The next time we see Walt, he is going to be 6'5 and playing for the Blazers
--I think they switched in a stunt dog. Looked younger

great episode. it was great when jack tells miles/dan to put the gun down, that all his people are pointing guns at their heads, then when miles calls his bluff, sayid steps around the corner. interesting how the tables have turned - now jack and co. are the "natives" who are one step ahead of the new folks on the island.

the fact that there are now two planes - one on the island and one at the bottom of the ocean just south of Indonesia - and that the pilot was not who they claimed him to be makes it look like a cover up...maybe Dharma is involved?

Miles was sent to the island to "talk to the dead" and find out why everyone on Dharma died, or maybe he already knows and that's why they want Ben?

"I saw Walt...only taller"
"Taller? Like a giant?"

haha

Another great episode! Very interesting...and oh so close to finding out about the monster. So, could the guy that Ben has on the freighter be Michael?

Sayid is awesome as always. And I love Sawyer --"The ghost of tall Walt".

Sawyer addressing Locke as "Colonel Kurtz" was awesome. Maybe it's just me, but I am not a big fan of Jeremy Davies (seems to channel Crispin Glover in his overacting).

Great episode. As usual.

As soon as I saw the helicopter, I said to the Mrs., "looks like it seats 6.

That team must know some serious **** about Ben for him to off the dirt digger. If he was only worried about them taking him, he didn't yet need to off her with extreme prejudice.

How in the hell did the polar bear get to the desert? Just another Dharma experiment at another location or some weird wormhole action?

Fantastic episode.

Were those flash forwards of flashbacks for the four new people? Flash forwards would explain why the Dan and the Lewis chick cared so much about the news of 815's discovery... although flashbacks are more consistent with Naomi telling the Losties that the plane was found and all were dead.

from another blog:

All in all, I enjoyed the ride this week. Here's what we learned:

Hurley can see Jacob/Christian's cabin, too, a fact which disturbs Ben and pleases Locke.

Somebody went through a lot of expense and trouble to fake a wreck of Flight 815.

In the past, there was at least one polar bear wandering the Tunisian desert in a Dharma Initiative collar. (A time travel experiment? Evidence of multiple Dharma locations?)

Ben's smart mouth is going to get him killed.

Sawyer, of course, has the best line of the night: "Taller? Like a giant?" I also loved his reference to Locke as Heart of Darkness/Apocalypse Now's Colonel Kurtz.

TVGuide.com also complains that Claire isn't mourning enough. Just because she isn't sitting on the beach in a catatonic state for a days on end, a la Rose, doesn't mean she's not grieving. And I, for one, don't need a soap opera storyline about Claire's sorrow.

Ah, Naomi. You understood Murphy's law but your boss didn't, and now there's a dysfunctional rescue team running around the island without your guidance (unless you turn out to be one of the undead).

Ben's mole on the freighter? Odds are on Michael.

Questions:

Are the rescuers angry relatives of slaughtered members of the Dharma Initiative, unknowingly brought together by the creepy Mr. Abbadon for his own nefarious purpose?

Where did the picture of Ben come from? Did he leave the island at some time as an adult--or did someone else carry the photo out?

There are two characters on the show that i have never liked that much...Claire and the hobbit...the hobbit is now gone and although i liked him on his final episode, he appears he will make more ghostly appearances to hurley. we are stuck with claire, her baby is important. fantastic episode....thankfully, the writer strike appears to be settled so the season can be saved...
