KSU vs. Texas Game 2

Pimp Daddy
Another day another line up change like it makes any big difference.

Peters hoping he can get two runs like yesterday starts again on Saturday for the ninth best pitching staff era wise in the nation.

Trouble is the last time I looked at the offensive stats last week we were in the 260 range for scoring runs in the nation.

Peters in the first and the first pitch is a fly ball to center for out one.

A K swinging is out two.

A liner to right falls for a two single.

A passed ball moves the runner to second.

A grounder to second ends the inning.

Texas comes to bat with no score.

KSU starting basically staff already is starting a pitcher named Wivinis who isn't expected to go more than four innings.

B. Marlow leads off with a liner to left for a single.

Stell puts down the sac bunt, but the pitcher fields and I think that he thought it was fou off Stell's foot. Then he realizes it's fair and throw late as Marlow continues to third. It's ruled a FC and and an error.

Payton with a chopper to second scores the run as Stell goes to second. Texas leads 1-0.

Hinosa singles and scores Stell to make 2-0.

Felts singles and Hinojosa goes all the way to third.

Weis grounds to first and the first baseman tags first and throws to second where the tag is applied for a 3U-6 double play that ends the inning.

Texas matches it's 2 runs from yesterday and lead 2-0 after one.

Peters out for the second and the lead off hitter bloops a single to left to reach.

A K swinging is out one.

A shallow fly ball foul to right and Payton runs it down for out two.

A wild pitch puts the runner in scoring position at second.

But Peters K's the batter looking on big curve ball to retire the side.

To the bottom of two Texas leads 2-0.

Silver leads off the second and flies out to center for one away.

Shaw in left today grounds to second for the second out.

Carter flies out to center also and Texas goes in order.

After two completed Texas leads 2-0.

Peters in the third as we have a delay as Felts was shaken up by a warm up pitch and the trainer is out, but there is nothing you can do about where he got hit and if you played sports and your male you know what I mean.

He shakes it off and the lead off hitter grounds up the middle and Hinojosa ranges over and dives and fields, but his throw is off line from his knees and it's an infield hit to put a man on.

Back to the top of the KSU line up and the batter can't get the bunt down on two foul attempts and K's swinging for the first out.

Catcher's interference which is an error is called on Felts on the next hitter to put two on with one out.

Skip comes out for a meeting and now returns to the dugout.

After a battle Peters K's the next hitter swinging on a full count pitch.

A ground ball to second gets Peters out of the jam and retires the side.

Bottom of three Texas leads 2-0.

Top of the order for Texas in the third with B. Marlow leading off and he grounds out to second for out one.

Stell flies out to center for out two.

Payton walks to put a man on and with two outs its a good idea to start up the running game with a lead for a change.

HInojosa up as a wild pitch moves Payton to second with no steal needed.

Hinojosa grounds to third as Payton was running and the third baseman bobbles and throws low to first and it can't be dug out by the first baseman. He then throws low to home and it gets away as Payton scores to make it 3-0 Texas and Hinojosa moves to second. Two errors are given on the play, one on play that allowed C.J. to reach and then on the throw home that got away and alowed HInojosa to go to second.

Felts walks to put two on and here comes the KSU coach and he summons a lefty to face Weis.

Weis faces the new lefty Flattery and Weis who has been really struggling against lefties singles up the middle to score Hinojosa to make it 4-0 Texas.

A K looking by Silver ends the inning.

The runs are unearned, but they count and Texas leads 4-0 after three.

Peters out for the fourth works with what he must think is a huge lead as he does get this many run in three games total usually.

The lead off man is robbed of a hit by Marlow at second as ranges way to his right slides and backhands the ball and then recovers and makes an accurate throw to get his man at first for out one.

A slow roller to short is charged and fielded by Hinojosa and he throws in time for out two.

A walk on a full count pitch puts a man at first with two away on Peters first BB.

A K swinging his sixth K so far ends the inning.

Texas leads 4-0 to the bottom of four.

Shaw leads off the Texas fourth and flies to right for out one.

Carter lines one to right center that goes to the wall and he can really run and easily gets a triple out of it.

B. Marlow and the infield comes in. I guess that takes away the bunt which was what I was expecting.

Instead B. Marlow K's looking for the second out.

Stell grounds to third and the throw which was on the money is just missed by the first baseman for another KSU error that scores the run to make it 5-0 Texas.

Ole KSU first baseman as we used to say.

Payton grounds out to second to end the inning.

KSU contributing greatly today as 4 of the 5 Texas runs are unearned.

Texas leads 5-0 now after four innings.

Peters out for the fifth to qualify for the win gives up a ground ball single through the left side to put a man on.

A liner to center falls for another single to put two on.

A ground ball to first is a 3-6 FC for out one and puts runners on the corners.

A HBP loads the bases.

Here comes Skip again for a conference and mainly give Peters a breather and discuss defensive alignment.

A liner to center and Stell dives and misses and two runs score to make it 5-2 and its a double to put runners on second and third with one away.

A K looking is a big out two on a full count pitch.

Another HBP loads the bases again.

A ground ball to short ends the inning on a 6-4 FC.

Damage done, but limited at least. Also should note that Payton got over in time to back up the dive by Stell to backhand the ball or it would have went to the wall and bigger trouble.

Texas leads 5-2 now as we are halfway through the game.

We can if we hold on george.

Hinojosa flies out to left center for out one.

Felts grounds out sharply to third on a nice play as he dove to his left and made the play.

Weis with a comebacker to the hill ends the inning quickly as Texas goes in order.

Hate to see that after KSU scores and brings Peters right back to the mound after a long inning.

Texas leads 5-2 after five.

Peters back out in the sixth facing the bottom of the order and has thrown 92 pitches and needs a quick inning.

A liner to center falls in front of Stell with no dive this time for a single.

A line shot to Carter at third is out one and with this out comes Skip and he motions for a new pitcher and it's Hollingsworth coming in and now it's in the hands of the bullpen without Knebel.

Hollingsworth in with one on and one out faces his first man and a liner to left is thankfully right at Weis for out two.

Now a grounder up the middle is another single to put two on and out comes Skip and here comes Duke in to pitch.

I guess Urban is available today and can be used to possibly close.

Duke faces a lefty hitter with two on and two out

A pick off attempt and it almost went to center field as it rattled off the runner and Hinojosa and fell at the bag.

On a full count pitch with the runners off Duke gets a K looking as the batter argues with the home plate ump to retire the side.

Out of another big jam without damage as Texas still leads 5-2 to the bottom of six.

Silver leads off and grounds out to second for out one.

Shaw singles up the middle to put a man on.

Again good speed on and with the lead we might consider the running game.

Carter K's looking for two away and again I would hope to look for the steal attempt.

Shaw does run, but B. Marlow flies out to shallow left to end the inning.

Texas leads 5-2 after six innings.

Duke starts out the seventh by hitting another KSU batter to put the lead off man on. That is the third HBP today for Texas.

KSU continues with the runners every inning and has outhit Texas 8-6, fortunately they also lead in errors.

A liner to left and Shaw on the run dives and makes the catch for out one, this time the dive went our way.

A ground ball to Silver and the same 3U-6 double play that KSU made is duplicated by Texas to end the inning.

Texas leads 5-2 to the stretch.

Stell leads off the seventh for Texas and K's swinging for out one.

Payton singles up the middle and continues as our most consistent hitter.

The KSU pitching coach comes out and makes the call to the pen for a right hander.

Hinojosa faces the new righty pitcher for KSU Eesquivel and Payton runs and a throw that bounces in perfectyly nails him at second for out two.

Hinojosa walks to put a man on with two outs.

Felts ground hard to the left side and the third baseman dives and comes up with the ball and the long throw is wide and gets away as Hinojosa goes around to third.
It's ruled a hit and an error.

Here comes another pitcher now for KSU a lefty to face Weis named Nixon from Leonard, Texas.

Weis greets him with another hit against a lefty that scores Hinojosa and Weis makes it a double toward the line in right that leaves two in scoring position. Texas leads 6-2.

Silver is walked intentionally to load the bases.

Montalbano pinch hits for Shaw and flies out to center to end the inning.

Texas leads 6-2 after seven.

Duke is out for the eighth as Stell moves over to play left and Hall goes into center.

He walks the first man as KSU continues with runners in every inning.

Now a liner to right is a single that puts runners on the corners with no outs.

Skip wearing a trail now to the hill calls for a change and Ty Marlow comes in again to pitch as he did last night.

He gets a big first out on a K looking.

Marlow faces now the hitter that got the game winning triple last night of off him and this time he flies to deep left to the track for a SF out two that makes it 6-3 Texas.

For some reason KSU runs and they pay for it as Felts guns the runner down at second to retire the side.
Odd move there for KSU with their hitting.

Texas leads 6-3 to the bottom of the eighth.

Carter leads off against another new pitcher their fifth of the day a tall lanky right hander and he grounds a comebacker back to him for out one.

B. Marlow at the top of the order flies out to right center for out two.

Stell faces the righty Witcig now and a shallow fly ball to center is caught on a dive by King the KSU center fielder to retire the side.

Three outs from a rare conference win as Texas leads 6-3 to the ninth.

Marlow still out there and the leadoff hitter flies one over Stell's head in left and the ball bounces over the wall for a ground rule double.

Runners on in every innning for KSU and the seventh time the the lead off man in an inning has reached.

Urban and Culbreth I believe are up in the pen.

A pop up foul is caught by Carter for out one.

A K swinging is out two.

A soft liner to first ends the game and Texas wins 6-3.

We can haz win george because of five big KSU errors, but a win it is.

That ties the series at 1 and like every home conference series this season we go to the third game with a starting pitching advantage to possibly win the series.

With no Knebel though if it goes to the pen it is fairly even as KSU hasn't used their closer yet and we haven't used Urban who is serving as ours I would think.

Tech plays OSU tonight to see if we can gain any ground and we better as it's starting to get close to being closed out mathmatically for last place.
