KSU - 19 JUCOs transfers???

It's not unconventional by K State standards. That's how Bill Snyder took them from one of the worst teams in D1-A history to a powerhouse.

That approach certainly isn't for everyone, but it has been K State's blueprint for success.

I thought all schools in the Big XII used the Conference standards for scholarship athletes and not their own which may/may not be higher.

If there was an exception to this I thought it was Baylor.

You are correct, all Big 12 schools use the same NCAA imposed standard for scholarship athletes for entry as freshmen. Of course not all schools use the same standards for JUCO transfers; Texas uses its standard transfer requirements, which are quite high. The minimum NCAA standards for incoming freshmen are pretty damn low. So the majority (if not all) of these JUCO transfers likely struggled with high school.

To clarify, KSU was not one of the worst programs ever, they were the very worst. Bill Snyder did an outstanding job on the football end of things. The school did not in the academic end of it as yes, you have to be pretty ******* dumb to not get in there. It is for sure not rocket science over there.

To them keeping up with or trying to is more important. They are indeed, Kansas State Jr. College. I guess if it works for them. Nobody respects them to begin with so why not?

This is pure desperation.

Snyder never took anything like this in terms of JUCOS and though they weren't shy about hitting their ranks, most of K-State's biggest impact guys were 4 year guys: Darren Howard, Mark Simoneau, Terrence Newman, Darren Sproles, Ben Leber, Chris Canty. Those guys were triumphs of talent development and shrewd talent evaluation.

Michael Bishop and Quincy Morgan are the notable JUCO exceptions from the Snyder era, but his very best teams had minimal JUCO presence. He used JUCO for specific impact players - not to form the core of his roster.
