Kitchen remodeling

I'm getting ready to remodel my kitchen. It needs to be comlpetely rearranged and it needs updating to current standards/look/feel.

I know I don't have the expertise to come up with a coherent design and I'm not sure I'll have the patience to do the work for myself so I am looking for any help on finding a company that can design a kitchen for me and a contractor (if different) who can implement that design.

Anyone have any success stories here?

check out Armstrong Cabinets.... they'll measure the space and work with you on a layout that is to your liking... I did my entire kitchen cabinetry for $7k... it is gorgeous... so you can do the demo yourself and have them install the cabinets... then go out and find a granite company for countertops and maybe backsplash... it really isn't that hard... you could probably do a total remodel for about $15k (including appliances) and have it be real nice.... pay a contractor and it'll cost you a few thousand more...

here's what I paid:
cabinets - $7k
granite - $4k (2 very expensive slabs and no seams you can do this for cheaper for sure)
backsplash - $700 (tile and install)
appliances - $3,500 (you can do this cheaper if you need)
electrical - $600
TOTAL $15,800

those prices are totally inclusive... and my wife picked some stupidly expensive appliances like a $1400 dishwasher and a $1200 range/oven... but we also got a chimney hood and a microwave.... I guess you could add $1500 for another fridge if needed...

doing the demo and prep work yourself will save you a ton of money...
