Update

Since I complained, I should at least say whats out there that is good So here are three outstanding pieces that followed the game:

"Giants offered truth in face of Patriots' myth," by Gary Shelton, St. Petersburg Times, 4-Feb (that appeared in the Statesman)
Excellent content and use of language.

"An Imperfectly Good Question: What to Do Now?" by Judy Battista, NY Times, 5-Feb

Neither Bohls nor most of the rest of the sports journalism world seems to have wathched the Pats' last few games or the Giants'.

agree, M. Orange, that my comments are a bit over-the-top fan talk...

That said, the wrap-up comments by ESPN staffers point to a pretty solid defensive effort by the Giants, thwarting a team that scored a record number of points (almost 600), plus the 50 TD passes by Brady over the course of the season.

The post-game wrap-ups further point to the number of times Brady was sacked, hurried and knocked off his feet. The numbers on that were at the level of a pretty sound defensive effort for any game played in the NFL.

By the game's end, the stats are really pretty even (looking at the box score). The difference may have been in the first half when the Patriots had the ball just over 10 min for only 81 yards offense. And 7 points. Amazing that that difference in possession was practically reversed in the second half to net an even game of possession.

In all, yes, an even game. After 60 minutes it took a miracle mid-field pass play to keep a drive alive and stay in position for a pass not too dissimilar to VY's toss to Limus Sweed in the tOSU game.

As to Kirk and my Kirk bashing.. .I'm just disappointed he doesn't let himself touch the raw nerves of sports and the play of the game. As such, his columns may as well be in the real estate or business section. Or science section.

To me (my opinion only) he misses what makes sports the thing the rest of us hinge our lives on. If he did he'd write more passionately and perhaps even foolishly.

And his writing would be a lot more interesting to read.

Y'all are freaking ridiculous. Some of you will just try to find any reason to bash Kirk Bohls. You're bashing him because he picked the Patriots? Yeah, so did about a billion other people. Skip Bayless picked the Giants from the beginning pf the season, is he now a great reporter? This thread sucks.

I have a very hard time distinguishing him from Skip Bayless.

And I think that is just the way he want it.

He watched every snap of Vince Young's college career, with a local media credential, and still used his Heisman vote on Reggie Bush.

He pisses people off on purpose for a living.

Bohls is better than mediocre, but if he were a major college sports team he would barely make the top 25. With luck he might make the top 10 when all the other good writers are having an off year, but that would be a somewhat rare aberration. Give him his due -- he's okay. We could do a lot worse.

Your obsession is sad. A thread devoted to the fact that KB picked the Patriots? Why you don't you make a thread bashing him for picking UVA over Chaminade?

You gonna bash every other sports writer or expert who picked the Patriots too? I guess they're all idiots who don't know what they're talking about, huh?
