Kirk Bohls on Coach Aston’s recruiting

Two Texas coaches are getting high marks in recruiting: New baseball coach David Pierce and women’s basketball coach Karen Aston.

Look out for Aston’s Longhorns. She pulled together the No. 4-ranked class in the country last year — behind No. 1 Maryland, No. 2 Baylor and No. 3 Oregon — and has landed a 2017 commitment, Chasity Patterson.

Texas will likely be a Top 10 preseason team and is on the verge of becoming a legit national contender. The Horns are in on the recruitment of three of the top players in the country:

•Megan Walker, a 6-1 win from Virginia who has scored 1,000 points in her prep career. She’s the No. 1-rated prospect in the country, and is also considering UConn, Notre Dame and Virginia.

•Sedona Prince, a top-six national recruit for 2018 who’s just up the road at Liberty Hill. Back in 2015, when she was at Marble Falls Faith, she decommitted from the Longhorns. She’s a post.

•Charli Collier, also in the 2018 class, is from Barbers Hill.
