Did anybody watch this fight on CBS last night? I think this guy is a legit MMA fighter, but has a long way to go. He tired very quickly but hits like a ******* truck.

Even with help from Bas Rutten, hes too far behind and too old to compete with any top HWs. Of course he always has a punchers chance.

As a side note, having followed mma religiously for the past 6 years or so, that was easily the worst event I've ever seen. The only good part was when Thompson's ear popped.
The production value was beyond horrible for a major network backed event.
They were scared of being on network tv and were overly cautious.
The show lagged and there were insufferable interludes between fights.
The fighter introductions were hella annoying, this coming from someone who loves Lenne Hardt as an announcer.
Even Mauro couldn't save the horrible pbp team. Bill Goldberg > Frank Shamrock
IFL has been on broadcast TV and even UFC has an afternoon weekend CBS timeslot. But this event was an embarrassment to the sport and probably put more people off than brought in new fans.

it was terrible. not watching kimbo fight again until he fights someone decent. and why the hell didn't thompson drain his ear before the fight, that was sick

from the recap Thompson sounded like he was winning.
was the stoppage premature? it isn't like his ear bleeding was effecting his eyesight...

that show sucked... Just finished watching Faber beat Pulver on versus, and that was a much better pruduction... Every fight was awesome... I was annoyed when that commentator on CBS kept saying that Baroni needed to take the fight to the ground bc that is what he's know for... He soundede like this was the first time he watched mma..

Kimbo's a joke. He wouldn't last 5 minutes with the TUF guys, much less a seasoned MMA fighter.

Two of the fights were really good. That dude that got poked in the eye was gassed by the mid first round, he had some will power to still stay upright for 3 rounds.

As I was watching that on saturday night I was thinking some boxing promoters put it on to slow down the popularity of MMA. It looked like wrestling with every fight predetermined.

I'll give Slice props for training MMA and trying to be legitimate, but the dude's 34, he's been training with Rutten for a year, and still hasn't mastered even basic MMA tactics, and is in horrible conditioning. I constantly see these fighters who are in bad shape, and I'm stunned. I mean, how is it not common knowledge that you must have great endurance to compete in these things?

Still, Kimbo did his job. Ratings for the fight were decent, so that's good for CBS.

Thompson's ear, however, was nasty. When it exploded, I wanted to puke. I can't believe they didn't drain it for the fight.

Another year of training he'll be 35 and still just considered a beginner.

Kimbo couldn't put away Thompson with landing ten or fifteen clean shots. Thompson was able to put him down with some pretty weak shot attempts. Kimbo showed a very limited ground game, made some beginner mistakes and had no idea how to get up off the bottom.

And to top it all off his gas was tested and he didn't come out looking pretty, needing to be helped from the cage and having trouble giving a post-fight interview.

So other than major questions about his power, wrestling, ground game, and cardio Kimbo looked great.

The bloom may be somewhat gone from the Kimbo-rose.

That ear pop was disgusting. The whole bar we were at after the baseball game was roaring when it happened -- sooo gross!
