From the Astros message board:
"Just take it in order in making the sandwich and you have it.
Bourn = Bread
Matsui = Mayo
Tejada = Tomato
Berkman = Bacon
Lee = Lettuce
Pence = Pickle
Wigginton = Wrap for the sandwich
Towles = Toothpick to hold the wrap
Cooper = Coke to drink"
If I heard correctly, should Berkman go 1 for 3 tomorrow, he will have tied Pete Rose for the best batting average of any player in the history of baseball over a 30 AB stretch.
Previous to this game, Berkman, having gone 19-25, was the only player in 50 years, along with Pujols, to have such success over a 25 AB stretch.
In the previous 30 AB stretch before this game, Berkman was on 24 out of 30 plate appearances; the next closest similar historical performance in recent history was Ricky Henderson making it on base 21 out of 30 plate appearances in 1985, if I heard the announcers correctly (they might have said 1981.)
Of course, in order to confirm for the 128918210 time that ESPN is biased, deadhead hack sports journalism of the highest order, just moments ago, while showing the highlights from the STL/MIL game, one of them said, as Ludwick knocked in the GW hit in the 9th, "Is anyone hotter than Ludwick right now? No."
Over the last 7 days, Ludwick is batting .524.
Over the same period, Lance Berkman is batting .800.
