Austin is getting a cat cafe thanks to a Kickstarter project. Will any of you all be visiting?

Have you ever helped fund a Kickstarter project that yielded something neat or one that bombed? If I didn't spend as much time on Hornfans, maybe I would go check out the Kickstarter site.

First I've heard of cat cafe. Interesting, but use of the word "cafe" seems odd.

The only Kickstarter I have participated in was for a great little product that I use every day, the StandStand. I set it on my desk and put my laptop on it so that I spend more time on my feet. As an early contributor to the project I got a small discount and early delivery.

That's a good idea. I see a lot of guys at work using boxes, so it's good to know about the StandStand.

Hmm...that doesn't look very sturdy to trust my laptop on. I'd be worried it would fall over backwards. The Cat Café sounds like a horrible idea.

I've never contributed a dime to a Kickstarter campaign although I've been tempted a few times.

It's actually pretty solid. I set it on my desk in my home office, about the same level as my external 24-inch display so I can have the dual screen thing going. Later in the day I'll take it down and sit at the desk but the StandStand helps me to remain on my feet a lot more throughout the day.

You can probably tell from my use of best in show winner Miss P as my avatar what I think of the cat cafe. I don't like pets around my food in general.
