Keyes HR

This shot easily cleared the scoreboard. I know UT tracks the longest HR's ever hit at the Disch. Any idea where this one ranks? I was at the game and wasnt listening to the radio. Did they say anything?

It was just huge.

Keith just said it was hit hard. He didn't indicate it was that long of a shot. He didn't say it went over the scoreboard. THe and Bill did talk about moments like that are why Augie is pumped up about Keyes potential.

It clearly sailed over the scoreboard. It was by far the longest shot I have ever seen. That is strange they didnt say more about it.

I read the paper too and it didnt mention the length. Am I seeing things?

I don't think it went over the scoreboard. I came down just to the left of it. The outfielder would not have run to the wall if it was going over the scoreboard.

Longest I ever saw in person was Kieschnick's shot that left the park near the deepest part of right center at about light-tower height. It was an absolute bomb, and remained the record for a long time. I think i remember hearing Russell broke it last year, but I didnt see that one.

That one by Stubbs landed in the center field parking lot, about sixty-five feet past the porto-cans that are across the driveway from the outfield fence...over five-hundred feet.

I don't think Keyes shot cleared the scoreboard.

Drew Stubbs cleared the old scoreboard a few years ago. One of the furthest I remember seeing was Dustin Majewski hit a ball on top of a four story dorm that was probably at least 50 ft or so behind the right field wall at San Diego.

stubbs shot vs ou was ridiculous. it had a tremendous sound to accompany the fury. one of those shots where as soon as he made contact, the ENTIRE stadium went apeshit.

I was there for the Stubbs shot as well. It looked like it was rising as it disappeared from view. The instant it left the bat, there was no doubt it was gone; the only question was whether it would ever be found. I was sitting down in Section 3, and everyone around me, including some serious old-timers, was saying it was the longest HR they had ever seen. It was the bottom of the 10th inning of a scoreless game. The next day was Alaniz's no-hitter. That was a special weekend.

You youngsters should have seen Pete Incaviglia take BP back in the 80s. Scott Bryant also hit some titanic blasts. I was disappointed to see that the Green Monster was no more.

So it WAS or WASN'T a "Monster"? Hard to see on 1110 KFAB here in Omaha but the announcers were talking like it WAS.

He would be the 33rd player to accomplish that and it would be the 37th "Monster".

The top post is talking about Keyes home run during the Oral Roberts game I believe. From my understanding today (Sun - NU), Keyes hit it over the green monster, 37th shot since 1975 (when Disch-Falk opened).

Lat22...the 'Green Monster' IS, as it has been for thirty-four years. It may appear to be smaller to you because the scoreboard is so much bigger than it used to be.

Key's shot over the 'Monster', today, was the 37th in history. He is either the 31st or 34th batter to make the shot, as several batters have cleared it twice. His HR against ORU did not go over the scoreboard, though it was definitely high enough to do so. If he hadn't 'popped' it up, there is no telling where it would have landed.

edit...NebLHB, sorry I missed your post...guess I should have said between 31 and 34.

I was at the game when the first ball was hit over that green monster and you will not believe the guy that hit it. The link to the list below is from Texas Sports but it is incorrect.

The first guy to hit a ball over the green monster was Scott Soden and he played from 77 to 79. He was not a very big guy either maybe 170 pounds. I was there and I saw it and I am sure there are some other old timers that remember that shot. It was one of those early season non-conference games and if I remember correctly the crowd was rather small that day.

I've seen Tolentino, Bryant, Kieschnick, Majewski, etc. biggest blasts. No one has hit a ball as far as Stubbs' HR vs OU. Line drive, still climbing over the scoreboard. Absolutely titanic, mammoth, huge, gigantic, ginormous blast. Easily a 525 ft HR. Yes, easily.
