Keyboard shortcuts in FF?

So CTR+t opens a new tab, and FF shows ('File' menu) CTRL+C should close a tab (the active one, I guess).

Shouldn't all the shortcuts work, its the same computer?

^C is for copying text

Makes no sense.

^ shift w works just like the windows alt F4... it kills the process.
But
^ w closes a focused tab.
If no txt is highlighted, then you'd think ^c would function for close the tab... from the 'File' Menu (thats what it says!... just like File > New Tab)
