Key dates to remember for Recruiting!

Recruiting went into the "Dead Period" on Midnight Sunday/Monday, 12:01am, Dec. 19, that lasts until Tuesady, Jan. 3!

There's a brief contact period from Jan. 3-8, then a 'Dead Period' goes into effect from Jan. 9-11th, then the contact period heats up from Jan. 12-Jan. 29.

What is the NCAA reasoning in having a 3 day dead period (Jan 9-Jan 11) right in the middle of the other two contact periods in January?

Probably to allow coaches and athletes to watch the BCS championship, then recover for 2 days from the excitement of a non-playoff based championship game......

Perhaps it's designed to not put programs at a recruiting disadvantage who are in the bowls, including the championship.

i see the reasoning for the "dead periods".... but i think it's odd that the ncaa doesn't want to give the teams that don't make bowls (we'll call them the "have nots") a recruiting advantage over the teams that do (the "haves").

yet, in allowing the "haves" to practice in december, they give them a distinct advantage over the "have nots"

why not just allow EVERYONE the 15 practices (or whatever it is)??
