heard some guys on the radio this morning. they were saying maybe the rangers should give him one more chance, and if he gets shelled before the 4th inning is up, they should pull him so he doesn't get the 12 million. Evidently he is within about 5 innings of the bonus. can't disagree with the idea.
Despite the ****** performance, Nolan is doing the right thing. There are potential long term benefits associated - as you would hope when doing things correctly.
I'm thinking you could accomplish the same thing by going to a six man rotation for the last 18 games. Millwood would be on a very short leash and he would get one less start?
The strange thing is, he's cutting it super close all by himself, by giving up so many runs early in the game. If he pitches well, he goes into the 5th or 6th, no problem.
The real question is what to do with him next year.
