Kevin Durant a Spur in 2010

That would be amazing. Probably not likely, but another franchise cornerstone for the next ten years would be pretty cool.

Awesome, but wont hold my breath. The other poster had it right. the seattle/ok city super sonic methheads are going to be good with the amount of picks they have coming up.

If I have this correct, the way it works with rookie contracts in the NBA is two years guaranteed, then the team has the option for the third and fourth.

So unless the Sonics suddenly decide the three years they don't want Kevin Durant entering his prime, I don't see any way he's on the free agent market in 2010.

But someone feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.

I believe that Kevin Durant is eligible to become a restricted free agent in 2011 and an unrestricted free agent in 2012. Either way, there is no way he hits the free agent market at any point before 2015, and that's only if he does what LeBron and Wade and Carmelo and Bosh did when they extended their rookie contracts. Otherwise the Sonics will lock him up to a max deal as soon as possible.

The Spurs should have plenty of cap space in 2010 and will have a shot at several free agents because of that. Although a lot of teams will probably be clearing cap space at the thought of signing some of the premier players are slated to be free agents that year.

No way he ends up in SA. Durrant is Nike's #2 guy. SA is not a place to go for a guy making that type of endorsement $$$. And this is coming from a huge SA fan and a SA native.

Crap threads like the one on spursreport.com give sports message boards a bad name. The season before he hits the unrestricted market he will be a restricted free agent, and the sonics will sign him to a max deal. The only way he hits the unrestricted market is if he plays out his rookie contract and forgoes a ton of guaranteed money. Serious question: Who was the last marque free-agent coming off of his rookie contract who switched teams?

I know message boards exist primarily for baseless speculation, but threads like that one are ******* embarassing. I can just see some 16 year old dude taking a break from playing WoW, getting on real GM and posting the first spurs related wet dream that comes to mind. I'm a rockets fan and **** like that made clutchcity.net unbearable. These are the same type of dudes that think a team made up of Gerald Green, Darius Miles, and any assortment of uber athletic freaks will be "mad good cuz they got crazy hops and will run anyone out of the gym YO!!!!" I am thankful hornfans has been able to avoid this type of drivel.

If you believe that Durant's ever gonna be a Spur, you also believe in fairy dust and the yellow brick road.
