Katz's top 25

Really idiotic Top 25:

1. UConn WAAAAAY overrated. Has Katz watched them the last few years?

2. Annual MSU overranking. No way they are a Top 5 team.

3. Annual Gonzaga overranking.

4. Purdue too low and KU beyond way too low. KU will reload.

5. Finally, as a UW grad, Katz should realize that (a) he is a fool to keep Bo Ryan out of the Top 25 and (b) this Badger team will be better than last year's edition, which won conference and went to the Sweet 16.

Strange comment. We had a pretty damn good interior last year, didn't lose anyone, and added Matt Hill. And everyone is a year older (under Todd Wright too, which makes a huge difference).

this team will be as good as its point guard play. we should be solid inside. i don't see us getting outrebounded very often.

Katz's comment might make some sense if one is focused on only the offensive side of things. Texas doesn't have a proven inside scoring threat. We may reasonably hope that Johnson, Pittman, Hill, and the others will provide that this year, but an outsider might not see as a reality that which we see as a probability.

We have lots of finally healthy big bodies, but absolutely no proven consistent interior scoring...Katz is right on as usual until proven otherwise. James, obviously as everyone should know by now, is a perimeter player. He and A.J. will be relied on to score about half the points for the team, thus a perimeter oriented team...

James will probably move to small forward this year (even though he is a 6'8" leaper. This is his contract year and he will be playing small forward in the NBA. Moving James to small forward will open up another spot for a big man inside.

I am thinking the starting five might be: James, Atchley, Abrams, Mason, and Pittman. Atchley said that Pittman, especially, is looking really good so far this year.

I am interested in seeing how Wangmene has progressed. The guy is an athletic beast. Johnson has lost 15 pounds so he might be really quick this year.

Barnes actually talked a bunch about Abrams playing point guard this year. Said he may be the smartest player that Barnes has ever had at UT and that he played PG in HS. Barnes was also very impressed with Balbay and Ward.
