"Damion James, Texas: James remains on the bubble as to whether he will stay in the draft. He's considered a borderline first-round pick. He said if he can't get a guarantee in the first round, he'll "probably go back to school."

"We can have a great team with Avery Bradley coming in, Dexter Pittman, Justin Mason, Jai Lucas as a transfer and everyone else," James said. "We can have a great team next year." But in the same breath, James said he is ready for the NBA because "I think I can take my game to another level."

I have heard that if he is promised a guaranteed contract as a second rounder by a team, then he'll stay in.

If DJ can get guaranteed money, he should go. Dude has had a tough life. It's a chance to really help his family. But, he needs to be careful. Listen to his heart and his head. He'll make the right call. I would love for him to come back and make a run to a title, but if he does get that contract, I'll also be proud he is a Longhorn.

Why not do both???
Kick ou's *** this year, & take the 2 yr guarantee next year. Besides, playing a year with Avery & co might elevate his game beyond what the scouts saw last year.

I'd take the guaranteed contract this year, because it's not guaranteed next year. Especially if he plays more forward for us than swingman, which is his only option for the NBA. If anything, that might hurt his draft status even more than it already has been hurt.

I see one of the "good" teams take him at the bottom of the 1st round and turn him into a project swingman, like a stockier CJ Miles. It took Miles a while to figure it out, but once he did, he's pretty solid. James could spend a year eating up 5 min/game, and then turn it on for a pretty decent franchise if he got taken where I think he could.

If Texas' Damion James is listening to NBA personnel, then he should head back to school, too.

According to those in the gym, Pitt's Sam Young dominated James on Monday, and James' reliance on the 3-point shot was a huge negative to those who were scouting him.

Getting a promise of a guaranteed deal in the 2nd round doesn't mean squat. Another team can select him earlier and they're not obligated to guarantee anything.
