Karl Malden dies at 97

This makes me sad, although, as he was 97, it probably was not unexpected.

I loved his portrayal of Gen. Bradley in Patton, and I also loved him as Herbie in Gypsy, playing a man hopelessly in love with a woman who could never love him as much as she loved the limelight.

I will always remember him more for Streets of San Francisco and American Express. I really had me convinced I better not leave home without it.

RIP KM.....

I'll always remember him for his appearances in three of my favorite old time movies...

"A Streetcar Named Desire"
"Birdman Of Alcatraz"
"How The West Was Won"

...but he stepped up in everything he did, be it 'good guy', 'bad guy', sad, funny...he always seemed to hit the mark.

R.I.P. KM

His nose alone was probably keeping him going for this long. It was like a whole separate living organism.

Long, long life; that is the way it is supposed to go. RIP.

Most memorable for me as "Shooter," opposite Steve McQueen, Ann-Margret and Rip Torn, in "The Cincinnati Kid."

The Link

A really entertaining movie featuring a scenic locale, an interesting story and lots of star power.....Edward G. Robinson, Tuesday Weld, Joan Blondell, Cab Calloway, Dub Taylor, Sweet Emma the Bell Gal, etc.

Highly recommended.

Billy Mays' death thread has nearly twice the posts as this one. What does that say of Karl Malden? Or of today's pop culture?

Karl Malden was great in Patton and the Streets of San Francisco. But he hasn't been an active entertainer for a long time. When people die too young we notice it more.
