Kansas vs. Texas Game 3

NBHorn7

Pimp Daddy
Dillon Peters gets his first conference start.
Let's make it easier for him by breaking out
the bats today.

We better start getting our hitting eye back
because the starting pitching next weekend
will be the best we have faced since Stanford
as a rotation.

Right now we need all wins we can get for
regional positioning.

Kansas announcers think because Milner has
been used twice already this series he is not
available today.

They don't know us very well do they?

Peters struggles in the first giving up 2 hits, a walk, and finally a balk and gives up two runs.

Kansas leads 2-0 with Texas coming to bat.

We better get it started early and often today.

Payton with a lead off walk, steals second and Walsh
walks, but no hits and no runs either.

Kansas leads 2-0 after one inning.

Our own announcers don't know Jacquez is suspended.
Wondering why he didn't start.
Peters walks the lead off batter and is done.
Curtis in to pitch now.

Curtis retires Kansas in order after coming in.
Kansas leads 2-0 to the bottom of the 2nd.

I think it's pretty obvious that Curtis will be
in the starting rotation by next season.
Kid has really good stuff and getting to have
good command of it which is just if not more
important.

Curtis mows down Kansas in order.

Kansas leads 2-0 in the bottom of 3.

For those interested the fee for the Aggy
vs. Baylor feed is good for today's their
game today at 2:00pm.

Payton walks again and again doesn't score
as Texas is still without a hit.

Kansas leads 2-0 after 3 complete.

Curtis retires the side in order again.
Bottom of the 4th Kanas leads 2-0.

Look who is up and throwing in our pen,
why it's Milner.

Welcome to Texas baseball 2012 KU announcers.

Texas hits some really nice looking pop ups to go
down in order again.

Texas with no hits after 4 innings and trail Kansas
2-0.

Curtis gives up a single with one out and here
comes Milner in to pitch.

It's sad that against a team like Kansas we have
to be this fine with our pitching just to try and
stay in the game.

Milner retires the next two batters and we go to
bottom of the fifth.

Kansas leads 2-0 and Texas looks for it's first
hit of the game.

Texas finally breaks through and gets two walks, an
Etier singles is our first hit, Stell singles in a run, and
Weis doubles in two more. Now Walsh with a SF and
suddenly it's Texas leading 4-2.

Pitching change for Kansas.

In Waco the wind is finally blowing out and that
what Baylor looks to be doing to Aggy

They score 4 in the first and lead Aggy 4-0.
Looks like Baylor will go back to their scoring
double digit ways with a favorable wind.

Poppy in to pitch for Kansas this guy throws hard
and has little command when I have seen him
he can shut you down and he can give a game
away.

On cue he hits Silver, but gets the next batter and that's the inning.

Texas now leads 4-2 after 5innings.

We should win this game now, just add a couple
of runs and Milner and Knebel should do the job.

Milner wastes no time in retiring Kansas in order
and to the bottom of the sixth Texas leads 4-2.

Let's just score a couple and make this easy Horns.

Kansas pitcher drops the throw on a grounder to
first for an error. We put down the sac and move
him to 2nd, Etier doubles down the first base line
to score a run, wild pitch and Payton safety
squeezes in another run.

Texas leads now 6-2 and things are as they should
be as we go to the 7th.

Meanwhile in Waco Baylor leads Aggy 4-1 in the
third.

Milner is starting to tire and gives up a walk. He
has 40 pitches in this game in addition to the two
game he has already worked.

So with two outs and a runner on first here comes
Knebel in to finish this game off.

Knebel gets the third out and at stretch time
it's Texas leading 6-2.

Walsh walks and with two outs Felts bloops a single
to center. Then Marlow doubles in the gap in right
center scoring Walsh and ole windmill Tommy tries
to score Felts but he is gunned out at the plate.

Still it's another run and it's 7-2 now to the 8th.

In Waco it's still Baylor with the lead 4-1 in the fifth.

Lusson walks as Kansas brought in another reliever
to start the 8th and that's all as it's winning time
for Knebel and the Horns.

Texas leads 7-2 to the ninth.

Knebel turns out the lights on Kansas with the help
of a nice backhanded play by Weis to end it.

Texas wins the game 7-2 and the series 2-1 to go
11-4 in conference.

Dicharry should start the midweek game in my opinion with Jacquez still suspended.

Then it's Aggy time next weekend and Aggy could
be in desperation mode if Baylor completes the sweep. Then the Aggy goes to TCU for their midweek game, could be another loss.

In Waco the good news for Aggy is that Baylor made
two errors and a wild pitch to let Aggy score 3 runs
and take the lead 5-4 in the top of the 6th.

The bad news for Aggy is that they had to go
to their weak bullpen and Baylor scores 2 runs
and is still batting in the bottom of the 6th.
to retake the lead 6-5.

It's over in Waco and Baylor wins 7-5 to sweep
away Aggy and virtually eliminate Aggy in
the conference race.

Baylor is now 18-0 in conference and wins their
24th game in a row.

You know who is loving this more than anybody including us?

That would be the Rice Owls rapidly now closing in
on hosting a regional with the Aggy collapse.

I hope Baylor gets the highlight video up soon and it included the error made by the Aggie lefty
relief pitcher.

He fielded a bunt on the third base side of the mound and his throw to first went about ten feet.

Yes, texags is in full meltdown mode!
Someone better account for LonhornLawyer
for Aggy misery overdose.

So the conference standings that matter look like this:

Baylor------18-0 won 24 in a row.
Texas-------11-4 won 5th conference series in a row.
Aggy----------9-6 lost 5 in a row and first conference
series.

Should have gotten a sweep but that is 5 for five in winning Big XII series. Here is hoping that the aggy freefall continues next weekend.

Dropping game 1 against KU the way the 'Horns did was inexcusable. But, they had to win the series and they did. Here's hoping they make it 6 series wins in a row against Aggy.

I don't agree that Rice will be hosting a regional. The only team in their conference who they have swept is Marshall who is horrid. And that conference overall is not very good. I'll go ahead an call a UCF sweep on the last series of the season.

As of today Rice is not only hosting a regional, but
some have them as a top 8 national seed.

UCF is #11-14 in most polls.

They could easily both host regionals, unless
UCF falls out of the top 20.

Even a series sweep by UCF would not knock Rice
out of hosting a regional, a national seed would be
gone, but certainly not hosting a regional.

Rice is currently 30-12 with nine very winnable
games before that season ending series takes
place.

Being very conservative and say Rice goes 7-2
during those games they would be 37-14.

They would be ranked around 7-8 in the country.
Even if swept by UCF they would be 37-17 and
still ranked 10-11.

They have the pedigree and a facility that has
hosted many times and would still be a host.
