Mark Rosner of the Austin American Statesman just tweeted
that the NCAA will update the elegibility of Kabongo tomorrow and said UT thinks he will be given a 10 game
suspension which includes the six he has already sat out.
Just in time for the last game of a brutal stretch. We will need to pull it together for Big 12 play because this next stretch of 5 games looks like 1-4 with a 11 game record of 5-6.
I honestly think we'll be 8-5 heading into the conference slate. I think we upset UCLA at Reliant with Kabongo back because they haven't exactly been beating the world either (lost to Cal-Poly). Our next three losses will most likely be of the "ugly" variety, however. 20-point losses will be gracious against Georgetown, UNC, and MSU.
Even with all of his detractors on this board, I think Myck will do far, far better than Felix has been doing, thus giving us more of an identity at the guard spot. Pretending he's the same exact Myck as last season, that's still quite an immediate upgrade. Pretending he's better than last season, that's pretty awesome. Icing.
As for the conference slate... eh. If I had to wager money on it we'd go 8-10 if we played every one of those games today. If we improve? Maybe 9-9 or 10-8 but not much deviation. Final record before conference tourney: 16-15 or bust!
I think we have a decent shot at a .500 season. With any luck, we'll be back to a business as usual 20 wins next season, culminating in a first round loss at the dance.
