I realize I'm jumping the gun a bit here as Rice still needs to beat SHSU, but interesting that KSt went with Hoge today and saved their ace (Morris) for the 2nd game.

Sorta ballsy, but I guess the Mildcats were fairly confident they could dispatch Xavier, which they did.

As we know too well, Morris is the real deal. I still say K-State stands a good chance of winning that regional. The Mildcats were the second-best team in the Big 12, IMO.

Oilfield, when Morris was a senior and Berry was a junior, the state championship went not to Humble High...but to Humble Kingwood.

Kingwood was (and is) coached by Longhorn legend David Denny. Austin Wood was a senior on that championship team.

ESPN has an article about Humble head coach David Sitton planning to attend the KSU-Rice game. (Surprisingly it doesn't mention Sitton just got out of the hospital in March, owing to a January motorcycle accident, if I'm not mistaken.)
