Justin Leonard, who received a University ofTexas accounting degree 1993/1994 shot a +1 in the first round of the US Open at Pebble beach. To date in his career, Leonard has won 12 PGA tournaments including a British Open and a Players Championship. He also won a US Amateur. He has represented us horns all very well. He is well spoken and classy. I am hopeful he'll hoist the US Open championship trophy on Sunday. A second major will punch his ticket into the Hall of Fame. Pebble fits his game as it is the shortest course in major golf with tiny greens that emphasize chippping and putting, Leonard's strength. Another Texas Ex golfer Tom Kite won his US Open there as well. Leonard has been largely off form this season missing most cuts, but the US has not won a Ryder Cup without Justin playing on the US side since Justin turned pro. So this weekend I say 'Go Justin, go"! During last year's PGA someone put up a thread about Hunter Mahan (A flippin Okie State and USC player). Well Mahan shot a +7 yesterday. but at least the Longhorn is in the mix!!!
