That changes Sunday, when Texas hosts No. 10 Tennessee (2 p.m. ET, Fox Sports).

That's right: The coaches have Tennessee ranked 10th. I'm not buying it. Yeah, yeah, it's because of all those freshmen coach Pat Summitt has. Right. If she were starting two kindergarteners, a toddler and two infants, I'd still rank Tennessee higher than 10th. In the greatly respected (or is it greatly rejected?) Mechelle Voepel Rankings sent into the Associated Press weekly poll, it's No. 3 Tennessee vs. No. 7 Texas."

That comment was a slap in the face of Coach G and the entire team. Guess Voepel needed to at least see Texas play before she ranked Tennessee higher...now she has.

i really wanted to say something right after i read her article last week!...but i didn't want to jinx the game on sunday so i kept to myself. glad she finally got to see what the horns are made of.

The "yeah, but..." is a pile of BS in my opinion. Texas may be a slightly more veteran team than TN but Coach G has three freshman that are seeing plenty of minutes and producing. TN has a roster full of high school AA's and just about all of them more highly coveted than the Texas players. TN definitely has a height advantage & arguably a more athletic team than Texas but they got out rebounded and out hustled. Texas earned the "W" PERIOD!

Coach G is doing an amazing job & the girls are playing amazing. The growth and discipline of the team in one year with virtually the same roster is undeniable.

Too bad that we didn't get to see Johnson for most of the game, but that is basketball. You cannot make bad fouls or you won't be in the game. Had she played the entire game it would have been much closer, that is true. But Texas won the GAME, not just a portion of the game. Give the girls their props ,Voepel.

TN is a better team with Johnson on the floor, but the same is true for us when Carla is on the floor. She like Johnson missed most of the first half with foul trouble. Our young kids are doing a great job, but if Carla plays most of the first half we probably go into halftime with a 10 point lead. We're just a different team when she's on the floor.

I agree 100% with the previous post. I am a BIG Carla fan and agree that the team is sooo much more poised with her on the floor. I can't even express how amazed I have been with her leadership skills so far this season!!!
