Just ONE Free Throw

It's bad that Johnson missed them both with 10 seconds to go. It's worse that Brown gave up the ball to Johnson to put him in that position. Then, after the fact, Barnes "corrects" Brown that he should not have given the ball up in that situation. Perhaps coaching him before the play would have been better. Unreal.

A 70% Ft shooter and he misses both when the game is on the line??? Don't blame Brown for passing the ball. Blame Johnson for choking.

I blame (in order) :1) Brown for the charge with 1:20 left in the game, up by 6, in the double-bonus and with 26 seconds on the shot clock

2) Barnes for not making sure Brown had the ball at the end of the game
3) G.Johnson for not making at least 1/2

I've said this a time or two before.

If there is contact, there is a foul. Whoever initiated it fouled. Yes, Brown fouled when he ran right into someone.

It's like a car accident. If two cars touched, someone is liable, and that's gonna be the guy that ran into the other guy.

The defender WAS moving and the charge was BS.

I'd like to add #4: Missed shots in the paint.
And #5: Rebounds, or the lack thereof.

I see why the ref called the charge. Brown stuck his arm out and initiated the contact. Just not smart on Brown's part putting himself in that situation. Also, not smart to give the ball up with 10 seconds when you are an 89% FT shooter. Especially to Gary Johnson, who looked shell shocked at the line. J'covan has a ton of talent, but you have to play smart as well. He did not.

It was a fitting ending. Texas misses 4 FTs in last 50 seconds and lost the game by 1. Their achilles heal all season long caught up to them and bit them in the ***.

That last second shot though still stings.

When will this "if the defender doesn't freeze in place, any contact he receives is a foul on him" myth die?

charge was a bad call, but man..... you've got to hit one of two free throws. you just have to.

feel sorry for that guy.

Don't forget, Brown our 90%FT shooter missed 2 with a minute left.

This game is just a microcosm of the entire season. It was up. It was down. And we lose it with missed free throws and poor coaching down the stretch.

This will go down as one of, if not, the MOST disappointing seasons in Texas basketball.

Am I the only one that remembers that Damion James missed a FT in regulation with 9 seconds left that would have won the game?

I agree, Barnes has told Brown to keep the ball at the end of the game. That's why he's in at the end of every close game. He knows this. When they didn't foul him right away I think he got worried about the 10 second backcourt violation and therefore passed it.
