I'm not one to typically draw parallels to the football program, but Jaylen Bond might as well be our Jordan Hicks at this point. There's no such thing as a "minor" foot/ankle injury to a guy who plays like a big man, and our rebounding is suffering big time because of it.
Once again, we got outrebounded in abysmal fashion against UTA. We even allowed more offensive boards against Sam State than we pulled down... which is sorry considering how small they are. Barnes even alluded to Bond missing time was the main cause of this in a Texan article last week. In our zone, we're allowing a ton of shots. And these shots are usually by poor-shooting teams. And these shots are clanging all around the paint, but no one's getting to them.
This team with Kabongo and Bond would be so much different... hopefully in the right direction for Horns fans. I'm more than a little worried that we'll be without Bond's services for a long time.
