Just heard from a friend in Alabama

She said that lots of Auburn fans are wearing Texas gear and rooting against Alabama. Looks like there are some non-joiners in the whole "SEC pride" thing.

And I get the whole "rooting against your hated rival" thing. I do it every time oklahoma steps on the field. But to wear another team's gear. That's a line I just won't cross.

That's fantastic that they are wearing (buying) Texas gear. Hopefully enough to give Mack another raise on Jan. 8.

Yeah, the hatred between Auburn and Alabama is pretty intense -- maybe more intense than any other in-state rivalry in the country. I think it's because 'Bama was always the big dog in the state, but for the past 20 years or so, Auburn has consistently put very good, contending teams on the field.

It's different from our rivalry with A&M. While aggy always "hates" on us, a lot of us simply laugh at them and look at them like they're the little brother who will never be as good as us. Alabama fans probably felt this way toward Auburn back in the day, but can't do that anymore given Auburn's success.

Just imagine how you would feel about A&M if they had continued their "winning" ways of the late 80s/early 90s through today (with our without cheating).

There are similarities, but Auburn people tend to be pretty classy in my experience.

LOL. Politics and college football make for strange bedfellows sometimes.

I guess there aren't too many hard feelings over raiding Chizik and Muschamp from those guys, though we eventually did give Chizik back.

I've been working just about every week in Birmingham since October. This week, what I learned is most Auburn fans couldn't really care less about this game. They aren't really cheering for either side...although the typical SEC mentality is very evident with everyone here. NO ONE CAN BEAT THE SEC!!! They may not be cheering for Bama but they certainly think we have no chance.

We are so DOOOOOOOOOOOOMED!
