So damn good. I could eat it every day. We used to get it all the time in nyc but its harder to get in San Antonio which makes it even better. The restaurant here prepared it as well as I've ever had.

i'd always been aware of the rumble of the subject, but never knew why. just googled it after reading the post and don't think i'll try it.

i have no problem hunting and eating my own game, but force feeding seems a bit much imo...

however, my pitbulls love it before a big fight.

midtown - any chance you got it at Le Reve? I've heard that place is great. We've been wanting to head down to SA to try it.

I use to like it seared or as a terrine, but will not eat it again.

Nice flavor, but too gamey on the aftertaste.

The real reason though, hearing a news story wherein Amazon was selling foie gras from an outfit that would remove the beaks and feet of duck and geese. This proved to up production as the birds would no longer squirm.

A cow in a field, eating and sunning, lumbers into a barn, bam, bolt in the head. I can handle that.

Removing beaks and feet to better force feed, I move on.

I had some foie gras at Sushi Samba in NYC and it was a best foie gras I'd ever had. A few months later at some much fancier restaurant in SF, it might have been Hawthorne Lane, Boulevard, or Fifth Floor (can't remember) and it wasn't nearly as good.

I'm a meat eating, card carrying Rebublican, and fois gras is just evil. There's plenty of food out there to enjoy besides that one.

Foie gras threads are always good for bringing 'em out of the woodwork.

Does grapevine market still sell the stuff? I vaguely recall seeing it at central market too, but never bought it there.

It's wrong. IT'S WRONG

That being said the last thing we need is another law regarding food.

Corn mash bloated liver. Even better.

Seriously, the production of just about any food substance in involved with some unpleasantries. I understand the people who would rather not eat the ****, but don't get all high-and-mighty and then turn around and drool all over your BGH-infused hamburger. Your line-in-the-sand is arbitrary.

Actually it was Silo. Le Reve is closed for the month of August which really bummed me out. I plan to try it later this year. I actually called around to a few restaurants in San Antonio to see if anyone had it on their menu because my wife and I both love it, no one admitted to having it so we just went to Silo and surprise surprise, it was the special.

I have no problem withe people that don't want to eat it just means more for those of us who do. I am pretty sure that the bird in the picture up there is what I was eating the other night.

Had the best foie gras of my life at Alize in Vegas. It was unreal.
I also love hitting up Dylan Prime and getting the foie gras chapeau on my med-rare porterhouse. mmm..mmm.

I'm co-catering a fairly large event in University Park Sat night, and just ordered from these guys Mon.

I've ordered from them 10-15 times and their product is always spot=-on.
