Junior Day???

I reviewed them and if I am correct the following have offers from Stanford: Christian Westerman, Jarmauria Rasco, Malcolm Brown, Spencer Drago and Cedrick Reed. When a recruit gets an offer from Stanford it indicates to me that he won't have problems with grades. Of course just because one doesn't get one from Stanford doesn't mean he can't keep his grades up an offer from Stanford is a very definite statement that grades won't be a problem.

Bill, you'd think that to be the casen but under Harbaugh, Stanford has been carpet-bombing the Rivals 250 kids with offers sight-unseen.

Stanford is about as fine an institution, academically, as a kid could hope to attend, but that has not impacted Harbaugh's recruiting strategy.

People say the same thing about Rice, but I personally know several guys who play for Rice, and only a couple of them were what I'd call good students in HS. One of the ones I know barely met the NCAA standards.

I think Stanford has reached a point where they are so hell-bent on not being a cellar-dweller in football that don't really care about grades, as long as the kid can play and doesn't appear to have any major character issues.

I had always heard that Rice and Stanford made allowances for football players. I guess they provide tutors to help them pass their courses and have study hall requirements. Nothing wrong with that if they do.

Thanks to Clendon Ross I now know that junior day is Feb. 13, 2010.
