Judge strikes down restrictive Texas abortion law

Of course it was struck down, by the most liberal judge possible. Guess what it will be appealed, because this does protect women's bodies against the atrocities that happened in Philadelphia, but what would you know.

You libs should be against abortion for the simple reason that you're losing potential future democrats. High percentages of women seeking abortions come from low income and minority groups.

Hell will be full of these people. Let them celebrate then too.

Does anybody have statistics on the demographics of those who receive abortions?

My own, obviously very limited exposure to folks who have contemplated and had abortions is that teen-age blacks and poor whites welcome pregnancies when you can't imagine how the babies will be fed and getting child support, much less wedding vows from the biological father is a fanciful hope. Bright young women from wealth and priviledge who want to wait and have babies as part of a planned family are the ones I've known that opt to go to the clinic.

I really don't understand people who have several unintended pregnancies. Obviously, the woman has to take some of the responsibility for taking her pants off for some loser she's not married to (and for taking away one of the biggest reasons a man has to get married), but if you're a dude, how hard is it to put on a friggin' rubber? Yes, rubbers suck, but knowing the risk of pregnancy and disease, can't these guys control themselves long enough to put one on? It just isn't that hard.

Mich,

Come on, man. They come with instructions. Do you really think most of these guys are just misusing them over and over again? I just don't buy that.

Cana, I absolutely agree with your point, but you needn't have more abortions. Just mandate birth control. Norplant or something similar that can't be screwed with (no pun intended.). Everyone is allowed one mistake, but if you are getting money from the taxpayer for a child, you cannot have any more. This will never happen, though, as the Democrats want their voter base to keep increasing.

The glorification of abortion is really sick, and now that access to abortion is taking priority over patient safety, I don't know what else to call it. It is borderline worship. Why in the hell wouldn't you want abortion doctors to have admitting privileges in case something goes wrong? I think I'll take this doctor's word that it's a good idea. Link.

If one of the big arguments is that women want control of their own bodies; i.e., the ability to abort, then why aren't they fighting to legalize prostitution as well? Shouldn't they have the right to do with their own bodies as they wish?

I'd hate to be on the side of arguing FOR the right to abortion. I'm sure that's why they try to recast it as a "women's health" issue.

This is a thought exercise, but roll with it.

Let's say humanity invented a time machine. I assume a pro-choice advocate would have no problem with someone going back in time and paying their mom a million dollars to abort them self.

Giving a woman money to have an abortion today is completely legal. After all, it's the mother's decision and we're really saving them from the financial hardship of parenthood.

I think this is the same case
SCOTUS granted cert on Friday
First major abortion case for them since 2007
This could well be a major decision now that the Court is full again. It might even be used as the sometimes described "third leg," following Roe v. Wade (1973) and Planned Parenthood v. Casey (1992)

There is nothing new here. Your link is to the SCOTUS orders list from November 13, 2015. The listed case resulted in a 5-3 opinion in June 2016. Link.
