Played one season at JUCO and reportedly has 4 years to complete 3 years of remaining eligibility.

I am not clear on JUCO transfer rules but I thought a JUCO transfer had to have two years of credits to play immediately. There is also something about having to complete one full year at JUCO. Can someone clarify this?

So, I am not sure when Whiteley may be eligible to be on the field. He is expected to enroll for the Spring semester per reports.

I think I found the info concerning eligibility. Since Whiteley was a Qualifier (academically) for D1 play had he gone directly to a D1 school, he is eligible immediately upon transfer if he spent at least one full-time semester in residence at the JC, maintained a 2.0 GPA and successfully completed an average of 12 semester hours of transferable degree credit per semester.

Glad to see the Juco commit. Texas already has a great pass catching tight end. His name is M.J. McFarland and next year MJ will be a textbook demonstration of the woefully misguided misjudgment of talent by Mack Brown and Major Applewhite. It disgusted me watching Longhorn tight ends with hands of stone dropping easy first down pass receptions in the Alamo Bowl and throughout the season. If MJ had suited up for Oklahoma State or Baylor, he would have been on the field demonstrating his game altering offensive potential. Mark my words next year when a coach who knows how to use his talent sets his eyes on the potential represented by MJ McFarland.

I hope you are right but the few times McFarland lined up at TE and was thrown a pass in 2013 did not turn out well. One or two were drops at critical times that should have been caught. 2012 showed that he had some skills with 8 catches and 1 TD. He did do well on Special Teams and caught a couple pooch kicks during one game that were big.

I sincerely hope that he can become the pass catching TE that we need him to be.
