I know this is being discussed in an On The Field thread but wanted to put out some additional info over here for those interested.

Bobby Burton at Hookem is reporting that Texas has moved on from Tanner McEvoy. Not a knock against McEvoy but they have shifted their attention to JUCO QBs Jake Waters and Nick Marshall. Here's an overview of what is being reported so far.

Jake Waters is the nations top JUCO pro style QB out of Iowa Western. He's got good size at 6'2" 215lbs and has put up some scary friggin stats. Waters led Iowa Western to the JUCO Nation Championship in his second season completing 73% of his passes for 3500 yards, 39 TDs to only 3 INTs. As for his mobility he rushed for 260 yards and 6 TDs. His career numbers at Iowa Western? He's completed 68% for 6159 yards and 65 TDs to 10 Ints. Add his 614 yards rushing for 17 TDs and your looking at 82 career TDs.

Waters played for a 1A school out of Council Bluffs Iowa and led his team to a state championship both his sophomore and senior season. Coming out of high school, as hard as it is to believe, he had 1 offer and that was to Iowa Western. No offers from FBS and not a single offer from a FCS school either. Now, 2 years later, he's got offers from KState and Penn State with Penn State thought to be the leader.

Waters is trying to get a visit in before 12.19 which is Iowa Western's mid term enrollment date. He's very interested and if we can get him in for a visit it'd be huge. If we can land him, he'll transfer in mid term and be eligible to play immediately with 2 years eligibility remaining. Bama is also interested but they're waiting to see if McCarron enters the draft which i don't see happening.

Really good highlights below from 4 of his games this year.

vs Iowa Central
vs Ellsworth
vs Arky Baptist
vs Ga Military College

Is he known as Jake Football?

Makes you wonder why the Heisman is limited to 4-year colleges - or is it?

if he has a Texas offer, choosing between Texas and KSU shouldn't be too hard a decision. Looks like Mack can chalk up a loss to the Purple Cats for the next few years.

No offer has been extended yet. Per 247sports Harsin is headed to Iowa today and will meet with Waters either later today or tomorrow. For what it's worth though, Texas is going after Waters pretty hard.

WestGAHorn, I'm not doubting that Harsin is up in Iowa with a bag full of Mack's snake oil. However, I sure hope they're giving a bit better sale than they did on Bo Wallace, whom was reportedly getting the full-court press by Texas staff.

Jake Waters must be able to see that he'd be the leading talent on the roster from day 1 with those stats. But, does he want to be a starter on THIS team?

Makes sense to play for the best coach in the conference rather than a coach competing for the number 9 spot.

Close your eyes, click your heels together and say three times, "there's no place like Texas". All will be well!

i don't blame these kids for going to A&M one bit over Mack, Mack had the state to himself when it came to big time schools instate, he doesn't now so if a kid wants to play at the highest level he has choices. Does a kid want to play for someone that can motivate an entire team or one that can't? easy choice. I would want to play for someone that's going to motivate a team to win vs. one that cant and therefore because he can't gets his *** whooped occasionally because of it.
