It appears he's ours for the taking. The espn link below has some chub inspiring comments. From what i have seen, Brandon Moore is now 6'7" 330lbs and according to his coach he's a bad bad man who loves Texas and Bo Davis. The second link is sr season highlights. Landing Moore and JUCO OT Watkins would be insane additions to this class.

I can't give a linky quite yet, but I will when it's reported and have firm news... but I too have an update on Brandon Moore, the defensive tackle/nose guard from East Mississippi Community College, who made an official visit to Texas over last weekend along with EGB & D. Hawkins, the OL from Mississippi... I have him listed at 6-foot-5, 325-pounds which is a little more realistic.

Rumor has it that Brandon was offered this weekend in Austin and he has committed, but at this moment, he has denied a commitment. BUT... and here's the good news... he was scheduled to be in Gainesville, FL this weekend and has canceled the visit. More updates later. This along with the above post is great news for Texas!

Thanks for the insight HD. Cancelling his trip to Florida is definitely a good sign. I think you're right on his size, i'm seeing several stats that show him as being 6'5" 325 or so. Interestingly enough those are stats from his sr year at Carver. the link below is where i got that he was 6'7" but 6'5" is probably more like it. Good article about the JUCO talent coming out of Ms in the link below. interesting tidbit about our interest in Darrington Sentimore.

Having a badass like Suh break through the middle of the line is a quarterback's worst nightmare.

The 2007 Giants won the Superbowl because of Michael Strahan and all those d linemen overwhelming every offense they faced on the road.

Sounds like a great prospect but what about the ten DTS Texas already has.

Now a JC QB would get me excited along with a big fast saftey

I don't visit this board much, but if we're having Jucos visit, why not make QB the #1 and #2 priority? I I had a vote, I would say get the two best dual-threat Juco QBs and see if we could get them in here as soon as possible.

Sounds too good to pass up. EastTxHorn raises a good pt, though.
We have a lot of DTs on campus, and this would make a 4th in this class. Hmmmm

I think Diaz is exerting his influence re: DTs. Was considered a weak position at the start of the year. He's snapping up some real beasts. Fine with me.

I'm all for that. DT is one critical position that we can't neglect--need quality and quantity.

With that preface, I'm still intrigued by the numbers at that position and wonder what the emphases in this year's class might suggest about the future of some currently on the roster. I have the following for next year::

1. Ashton Dorsey (Jr)
2. Calvin Howell (Jr)
3. Chris Whaley (Soph)
4. Desmond Jackson (Soph)
5. Greg Daniels (Soph)
6. T Bible (Soph)
7. D. Cotton (Soph)

Incoming (verballed)

8. Malcom Brown
9. Paul Boyett, Jr
10. Alex Norman
11. New JUCO ???

I would also add that these are big kids with little room for 'spin down'. Whaley and Jackson seem to me to be the only ones who could play some situational DE. Finally, most candidates for OL have already been moved (Hutchins, Kriegel).

Here's one final question. I think/hope it's too early to close the book on Taylor Bible. Would love to see him work his tail off and compete for a spot on the two-deep. Would appreciate input from anyone who has a feel for possibilities here to enlighten me on possibilities.

i have heard some insinuation that malcom brown might not be as solid as originally thought and might actually be considering a switch to OU.

no real factual information there, but just smoke.
