I did not see any more detail at the link than "fractured shoulder." The typical "shoulder fracture" is a broken humeral head in an older person, not likely what happened here. There are some other possibilities, but I would not be surprised if this is a distal clavicle fracture: kind of like a shoulder separation that happens by breaking bone instead of tearing ligaments. While the average fracture heals to functional strength in about 6 weeks in the average adult, some broken clavicles heal slowly or not at all (without surgery). Summing up, I don't know what he broke, but I would not be too surprised to see this knock him out for the season. Best wishes and prayers.
