When he started talking, you could tell a lot of people were getting nervous. The typical counterattack was "He just wants attention" or "He's just trying to sell books", etc. Personally, I listened to what he was saying because I knew he was in the middle of the steroid useage. I wouldn't believe 100% of what he says because, well, who are we supposed to believe anymore?
I can still remember playing at A&M and their fans chanting "Steroids, Steroids" while we were taking BP and thinking "What? Who in the hell would use steroids for baseball?" Boy was I naive.
My opinion hasn't changed. I figured he was telling the truth all along. But when did he come out about it? If he had still been cashing a huge MLB paycheck he would have been denying it right up there with McGwire and Palmeiro.
I believe MLB baseball executive Helen Waite is in charge of apologies to folks who at least were truthful when they besmirched and denigrated and the great game.
