Jordan Hicks tears it up at Cincinnatti combine

So what's the scoop on this guy? Is he still a heavy Texas lean? And WHY is he a heavy Texas lean?

Sure hope we can hook 'em. Though a great deal of Mack's rise to coaching greatness is the result of him prioritizing Lone Star prospects, it'd be a major coup to lure a blue chip like Hicks away from Ohio State's backyard.

He grew up a Longhorn fan in the middle of Ohio. While it doesn't mean anything, it doesn't hurt to have him like us already. If he gets to campus, we have a great shot with Muschamp.

He didn't grow up in Ohio. He moved there after middle school.

Word has it that He like Fla. and UT alot. He and his mother just visited with Tress and it went well.

Hardcore tOSU fans think he is a top 3 prospect in the state with the competition for top spot being held between three very good, very productive players (Hicks included). Most seem to think he is top 1 or 2. Tress has apparently taken on his recruitment personally.

As time goes on no definitive word seems to be coming out, though most Buckeye fans who follow this type of thing or who are 'insiders' are saying that tOSU continues to improve their position with him. No one in Columbus is confident as far as I can tell, but they are far from giving up or feeling that their time will unlikely bear fruit.

I know what it says on the Rivals site, but high interest in Texas has always had an odd ring to it for me. Since he apparantly has no family in Texas or other connection to the state I guess this interest stems from the 2006 MNC/VY era. I don't doubt he is seriously considering us, but I have a hard time thinking of him as a lock or that he is on the verge of committing soon.

The longer Jordan takes to make his decision, the less likely he comes to Texas, IMO. He will be constantly shown the love by all the Buckeyes there, and Tressel will undoubtedly point out tOSU's (greater) success in grooming NFL linebackers.

And didn't Irby recruit himself? If I recall, he sent coaches a video tape of his game performances? The kid was just dying to be a 'Horn.

Hope Hicks commits to the good guys but, like Burnt Orange Bevo said, the longer he waits, the less promising it seems.

Seems to me if i guy really liked a school he would commit right away. It seems guys who really WANT to be Horns commit ASAP. It doesn't look good the longer he waits. I'd guess the ship has sailed. Mack hasn't signed a late pledge guy in a while.

I am still very skeptical and will believe a top national pick acutally chooses Texas when I see it. Although our last classes have been stellar, we have struck out on our top out of state recruits.

If he camped with us, I have a little different take on him. I think our recruiting has a lot to do with familiarity, and I would think he has serious interest if he has been down here for that purpose. I hope so anyway.

Maybe, however usually when I learn the spellings of places and cities, I just use the standard english version of what appears on maps and the such. It makes it easier on everyday Americans that prefer the english language.

Just noticed on Hicks rivals profile, that Texas is now the only HIGH on his list.

That and Darius White almost making it official.

Guess the rumors about these two being the spring commits is true . . . and awesome.

I doubt Jordan will commit at the spring game or that he'll even be in town for it.

But all indications are that he still likes Texas.

Hopefully, he realizes the epic, take-no-prisoners nature of the class that would be surrounding him.
