Jordan Hamilton had hip injury

This was reported during the game last night at some point. The announcer said Hamilton did not want to reveal the problem so opponents could capitalize on the problem. He said Hamilton felt the week off really helped him and he did erupt in the first half last night.
So all of you who wanted Barnes run out of town due to the late season slump will undoubtedly be issuing apologies today. I know, fat chance of that happening.

I do sympathize with Hamilton's injury and how difficult it must be to play through something like that. He's undoubtedly a great player that's going to be a significant factor in how far this team goes, but at times his problems do seem more than physical.

I remember hearing about this after we lost two of those 4 games that we played in 9 days. They said he wouldn't say anything to coaches so his Dad called Barnes to inform him. Must have been tough with all those games in such a short span. Following that stretch, we had 5 days rest before Baylor, and won a very tough game. Quality rest again before OU, won big. We'll see how he responds to no rest today. Hopefully it's behind him. But I can definitely see the difference rest has given him the last two games.

Glad to hear he is feeling better.

I am not sure how much of his shooting slump could be blamed on this type of injury though. Certainly the horns 2 weeks of poor play had to do with Hamilton's slump. The horns this year will go as far as Jordan takes them. But I thought it also had to do with a lack of bench play by Barnes. Alexis, Hill, and Lucas all seemed to get less minutes during that stretch and the starters were out there much longer than they had been earlier in the season. Barnes has even tweaked a bit with Balbay's minutes at times trying to find the right balance of offense and defense.

I have to condlude it was a combination of all the above...Hamilton's tight hip unabe to rest adequately to heal during 4 games in 9 days stretch. It absolutely has alot to do with his shooting as he has to create alot of his shots off the dribble. If you can't move as well the defender will be guarding you closer or your just not taking the same clean shots as you would healthy. Also, late in the game I'm sure it was worse and wore his entire body out. These guys sprint, jump, and run up and down the court the whole game...a hurt hip would absolutely effect your shooting performance. Also, the starters did seem to be spelled a lost less frequent during that stretch as mentioned above. I definitely noticed there was a change in the way we rested them during that 4-game span. Then you mix in the road trips during that short period were very long distance...Neb and Colorado. It's not like having short rest and driving to Baylor or A&M. Those distances just compound the short rest into a worse situation.

And all that being said, the opponents we lost to on the road were 35-4 at home...definitely not slouches at their own place. And we had a bullseye on us coming in as we were trying to become #1, then trying to stay in the top 5 after we lost to Neb. Just seems to me it was a perfect storm during that span of 4 games that really set us back from the dominance we showed prior. But I will say this, with all those circumstances against us and how poor we played at Neb and Col...we still barely lost those games. Showed me a ton of resiliency. Now that all of that is behind us...let's punk these damn Ags tonight!!!

********. Barnes was well aware that basketball is played indoors. As such, he should have known to bring a bucket of dirt with him instead of being arrogant and cocky that our players are invincible.
